Latest Stock Buy or Sell? Make More Informed Decisions!

Today, Rob Sechan, Managing Partner, New Edge Capital and Joe Terranova commented about whether NVDA, OKTA, TJX, VLO, XLU, CRM, INTU are stocks to buy or sell.

BUY
They report today and have been badly lagging their memory peers

He will watch to see if the monetizing of this $1.5 trillion infrastructure will happen. It's still early innings.  Some say this is like Cisco in 2000, but NVDA is a high value-added product. NVDA will maintain and increase pricing power. NVDA is the centre of the AI trade.

BUY

He recommended it last Friday, but is downgraded today. Poor timing! He's up 10% in this name, though. When a stock has been down, sometimes you endure volatility. They dominate consumer and personal finance. Software is an effective hedge as AI unwinds.

BUY

He sold it last June. That said, it's an essential business like ServiceNow. CRM will figure out how to monetize in relation to AI.

BUY

He was early in utilities and they're now up a lot. This is an opportunity. The bottleneck is energy within the data centre build-out. There's still a lot of room to grow.

BUY

Valero went through a 10-day consolidation period to work out overbought conditions. Time to buy it.

DON'T BUY

At a 52-week low. One of their divisions reported poorly. TJ Max and Marshalls underperformed. Consumer discretionary remains weak.

HOLD

The challenge will be the Microsoft bundling and its effect on their business and market share. Hold, because they are clearly an AI takeover candidate.

COMMENT

Over 8 quarters, it's fallen 6 times on earnings. So, they need a blow-out quarter. Q3 guidance is critical. NVDA has telegraphed they will raise prices 15% to meet expectations.

BUY

There's little chance their earnings will disappoint. There's a 75% chance they will meet expectations and talk about a good Q3. They could talk about their next-generation chip, too. All this could lift the stock after being sideways. A dividend won't move the needle and it's premature. From October 2022 to October 2025, NVDA rose 1,700%, but much slower in the past year. But this could be a base to accelerate again; it's trading at its 100-day moving average.

BUY

Before earnings, the stock was flat because they were perceived as behind the curve in AI, even though they own half of OpenAI, and Co-Pilot has been a bust. But a Chinese open-source is coming soon to compliment Co-Pilot, which raise the profile of MSFT's AI.

BUY
Vanguard buys Altruist to compete with Schwab directly.

Schwab has been able to fight competition before and will respond. Schwab has been gaining market share including buying other companies. They use technology at their disposal.

BUY

It's all about scarce resources, and this company has resources (power).

COMMENT
Reporting toay

He'll watch what they say about memory costs and the impact on margins, and comments on their financing deal as well as comments on non-GPU products. These comments could shake things up positively.

BUY

He added shares 2 weeks ago. They enjoy a big backlog while no new debt is expected in 2026. If AI succeeds, so will Oracle. Their EPS is growing over 20%. It's a great time to buy.

HOLD

He's holding onto his large position as he battles this volatility. Their CTO left, which pressured shares. Customer retention remains strong, though. The stock will find its way higher after this earnings report.
