BUY
Remains relatively positive on the base metals. Pricing on copper and nickel have held up well. Feels it represents good value here.
HOLD
Has performed well since October but part of that was from takeover rumours. Not a bad stock although ist looks a little expensive on a multiple basis. Prefers other integrateds.
BUY ON WEAKNESS
Has just broken into new high ground. Like a lot of the oil and gas stocks it has been marking time since October when oil prices peaked out at $55. Likes the whole group of drilling companies. Drilling and service companies will do well for the next few years, no matter what happens to the price of oil. Try to buy on a pull-back.
PAST TOP PICK
(A Top Pick Oct 14/04. Down 8.2%.) Still likes. Had expected positive announcements on the McKenzie Delta holdings. A quality company. Has a lot of long term potential. As an integrated it won't be as volatile as a lot of the other stocks. The government's selling price of $64 might be a hurdle.
HOLD
Under new management and have acquired Calpine which was a good purchase. Have also acquired Kensington without paying too much for it. Pays out 89% of its cash flow which is pretty high. Not sure how the new management will do with their new acquisitions. 14% cash flow return, but there is higher risk.
SELL
A trust spinoff, along with explorecos Bear Ridge and Kereco from Ketch Resources. Was interested in the parts, but everyone charged into this and they are all trading at surprising premiums. Wait for the dust to settle. If you own, take some profits.
SELL
An exploreco spinoff, along with Kereco and Ketch Resource Trust from Ketch Resources. Was interested in the parts, but everyone charged into this and they are all trading at surprising premiums. Wait for the dust to settle. If you own, take some profits.

BUY
Has had a very good performance. They own this through convertible debentures, but recently haved been acquiring the stock. Good diversification in assets such as coal, nickel, oil and cobalt. Making a ton of money on cobalt. Feels that the nickel facilities will be expanded. The oil could be a real sleeper.
TOP PICK
(A Top Pick Oct 14/04. Up 9.5%.) Has a great mix of assets. Global assets, but they are changing their focus to North America. Multiples are excellent. They are in share re-purchase. Trinidad is now coming on production.
PAST TOP PICK
(A Top Pick Oct 14/04. Down 1%.) Still likes, but wants a lot more information about the fire at their facility.
BUY
Prposed acquisition of Meridian Energy doesn't look like a bad deal at 3,800 barrels a day. True really hasn't done much. Drilling in relatively unexciting areas in Saskatchewan with 20% being heavy oil. A bread and butter kind of stock.
DON'T BUY
In a very tough area. A lot of competition. Some of the numbers that have come out have not been good. Would prefer participating in them through Onex. Dead money.
BUY
Things are going very, very well in the service area. Beginning to see a better winter in terms of the conditions. Not expensive.
BUY
Looking very seriously at this one. Into coiled tubing so they don't have the fixed piping that has to be taken out, but the coil has a weakness in that it is a relatively weaker type of tubing to drill with. Has worked very well in shallow drilling. In the process of testing down to 2,200 feet which opens up a lot more drilling.
