PAST TOP PICK

(A Top Pick Aug 2/13. Down 0.32%.) Sold his holdings at about $31. A year ago, it was growing like crazy but also producing free cash flow. The company then hired a ton of sales people to help their growth, so their expenses went up. Thinks it is a buying opportunity. Likes the underlying technology, and extremely high definition security system and they have new software that ties it all together.

PAST TOP PICK

(A Top Pick Aug 2/13. Up 7.75%.) Thinks this is still a Buy. Has broken out of a very long sideways base of 10-12 years. Gradually transitioning from a handset manufacturer towards medical and aerospace, where there is less competition.

PAST TOP PICK

(A Top Pick Aug 2/13. Down 16.69%.) This has been a disappointment, however this is a reasonable opportunity, but he would not buy it today.

COMMENT

Has been long on promise and short on delivery until very recently. Looks like they are finally getting their act together. Ranks 19, top 3% of his database. Earnings growth was up 70% year-over-year. Earnings are expected to grow from $0.51-$0.62 in 2014. Pretty good opportunity for the stock.

COMMENT

Doesn’t follow this one intimately, but it ranks 199, top one third of his database. Recent earnings were down 70% year-over-year. The coming quarter is supposed to snap back 36%. Looks like a reasonable opportunity with a two-year timeframe.

COMMENT

Decent dividends which has been raised over time. Ranks 36, top 5% of his database. 2014 earnings are expected to grow by 9% and to accelerate by 14% next year.

COMMENT

Thinks there is great opportunity for this company. Ranks well in his Quant model. Earnings growth is forecast at 19% this year. 1.3% dividend yield.

COMMENT

Recently sold his holdings, but continues to hold warrants. Their system uses beryllium allowing them to cast aluminium rather than boring it. Looking for a contract with Lockheed (LMT-N) for fighter jets.

COMMENT

Blackbox for airplanes, which operates on a satellite communication system. They continue getting contracts. The market is expecting progress with regards to the Chinese market whose government have announced that by the end of 2016 all planes must have a similar system in them. Extremely interesting because of the recurring revenue model.

TOP PICK

Oil/gas. They are using technology to dramatically improve production. They typically use water fracing, but are now using slick water fracing, which claims 5X more water and 2X more sand into the same size hole. That creates larger cracks giving 3X the amount of production. Payback is less than a year. Trades at a premium of 41% this year and 27% next year. However, looking at what analysts are forecasting for their growth, it is 77% growth in cash flow this year, 4X faster than a typical oil/gas company and 2X faster in 2015.

TOP PICK

Incinerators. There is an advantage from an environmental as well as a legislative viewpoint. Earnings were up 58%, and the cash flow was up 112%. Earnings are expected to grow really well. Thinks it will do really well over the coming 12 months.

TOP PICK

Have an interesting drug PBI450. They basically do proprietary filtering. Could climb 80% in the next 12 months.

COMMENT

Children’s media and entertainment. The advantage is they have a library that can be used for children. Also, have significant government incentives federally and provincially, allowing them to build up their library of programs at almost no cost. Continues to grow by acquisition. Their target is to grow big enough to be acquired. Earnings are forecast to grow from $.09 to $0.28 in 2014 and 19% growth in 2015.
