A copper play. Finds it a little over promotional. The proximatey to the Ivanhoe (IVN-T) property in Mongolia and the entry of Tio Rinto into it validates the company.
TOP PICK
Impressive management. A very good grade copper/gold project in British Columbia. Infrastructures are in place. Cheap stock.
TOP PICK
Has fallen under the radar screens. Excellent management. A multi-million ounce project. A lot of companies are interested in this, but the street is missing it.
DON'T BUY
Hasn't shown much growth over the last few years.

An excellent operator. Took on a lot of debt when they acquired Ekards and expected it would take 2/3 years before you saw any positive signs that they were turning it aroumd. In the near term, things have not worked as well as they had hoped. He is looking at it to see if he should be in the stock at this time.
TOP PICK
A specialty property casualty insurance company. It's profitable and becoming more profitable. The combine ratio (the difference of what you take in as a premium and what you pay out) continues to get better and better.
BUY
Has had a rough October. Had a contract with Rogers (RCI.NV.B-T) to carry their long distance phone calls. Rogers acquired Callnet, so doesn't need this company anymore. Have just guided lower. They have a dividend of $2.75 which they are earning on earnings/cash flow. Buy this on a yield play.
TOP PICK
A packaging company. Have sensitive labeling and are consolidating it globally. Also make aluminum aerosol containers which is a huge grwoth business with higher margins than plain aerosol. Also make plastic tubes which hasn't done well, but is being turned around.
DON'T BUY
He sold his holdings, took his money and ran. The stock is fully priced here.

Trades at 10 X earnings with a yield of 4.5%. The US banks in general have not been doing well as short range interest rates have been moving up. This is probably one of the best US banks. If there is a housing melt down, they would be hurt. Would buy Canadian or English banks instead.
TOP PICK
A Vancouver based lumber company with operations in B.C. and the US. Sells at about $6.50 and has a book value of over $8. Has been selling off unprofitable assets and buying mills in the US. Should be rid of all of its debt by next year. If the softwood lumber dispute gets settled, the stock will jump overnight and you won't get a chance to buy.
HOLD
The largest electrical producer and distributor in Italy. Recently sold its telecommunications business. Has a big yield. One problem has been the strong US & Cdn $'s against the Euro. Still feels the outlook for this company to generate cash is there.
DON'T BUY
Has come down a long ways and there is value here. Being squeezed by ram material costs, aluminum. Also people have been moving away from soft drinks.Wait until you see signs of a turn coming.
