HOLD

Rare Earth is a very difficult sector. There has been a sudden change of course in top management. There are bits and pieces that are very interesting. Took some profits a while back but still holds a little bit.

HOLD

There is tiredness to the oil sector and you can see it in the oil sands. You also have the overall dilemma of what is going to happen with our landlocked supplies and where are they going to go. This is one of the finest of these companies.

N/A

Canadian banks. What should retail investors pay most attention to with regards to Canadian banks’ annual reports in preparation for attending annual meetings? You should be looking at earnings and consistency throughout the operations. You should be holding a selection of Canadian banks in your portfolio. You should not be without them if you are conservative and a long-term investor.

BUY

There has been a change in politics in Japan and the new people are in favour of restoring nuclear energy, which they really have to do anyway. China is proceeding with caution. There will be improved qualities in the plants and hopefully this is a long-term positive story.

COMMENT

We have come into a positive pricing situation which has suddenly erupted, particularly over in Asia. You can hold this for the short-term if you believe that a rally in the strength in the pricing is going to continue.

COMMENT

Thinks gold will be staying around this level and doesn’t expect much upside. This company has to get into production now and is reaching that vital difficult stage, which generally isn’t successful in the 1st year of mining companies.

DON'T BUY

Fundamentally it has not performed well for a long time.

PAST TOP PICK

(A Top Pick Jan 10/12. Down 28.03%.) Averaged down at $8.50 and $11.50. Feels the short-term story is intact and he likes it. He just doesn’t know what is going to happen with it beyond the Blackberry 10.

PAST TOP PICK

(A Top Pick Jan 10/12. Down 15%.) Developing and will be developing very high grade VMS (multi metal assets). Looks very, very promising but the market is kind of against it. If you own, continue to Hold.

TOP PICK

(A Top Pick Jan 10/12. Up 38.52%.) Supply industrial kitchens, mainly into restaurant chains. Good management. Recently acquired Viking Range Corp. Growth by acquisition via cash flow generation so they don’t get buried by debt. They have endless scope for expansion of contracts.

COMMENT

Has been rising rapidly from $1+ in the last few days. Management is attempting to create an interesting producer. Drag on it might be their THAI process, which really hasn’t gone commercial but other assets are quite interesting. Good management.

HOLD

Could be on the point of arranging a financing for production purposes on the Red Chris. Have a Japanese partner. Has been a laggard. The Red Chris is one of the best assets in Canada.

COMMENT

Gold, copper and molybdenum in Alaska. Firmly believes they will overcome their environmental obstacles and in September/October this year there will be a big step forward of a mine planned and the US Army engineer taking it further down the road in the permitting process. Very cheap.

HOLD

Is this range bound? If so what are the lower and upper ranges? Are there any catalysts in the foreseeable future that will propel it higher? Looking at the chart, he would say it is not range bound at all but is really a long term hold. Dividend yield of over 5%. Prefers Telus (T-T) which has gotten approval to change its non-voting shares for common shares on a one to one basis.

COMMENT

Manufactures grain augurs. Very strong company. The downer in the stock has more to do with the market than anything. 7.7% yield.
