COMMENT
(Market Call Minute.) The cycle is alive and well and assuming you like the market, it is a Buy.
BUY
Fertilizer stocks tend to do well from July until the end of the year. That correlates well with grain prices. Stock came down too far. A great buy at this level.
COMMENT
Multiple got very high for a cyclical stock. The fact that it has turned around like everything else did not surprise him. Valuation is attractive. News indicates that pricing is starting to firm. Believes the company will do exceptionally well in a good market.
BUY
He has moved to essential industries and feeding the world is essential. The countries with the big growth in populations, China and India actually have a lot of money to buy fertilizer. Fertilizer prices have not come down. Earnings were terrific in the last quarter.
BUY
Fundamentally a great company. Potash commodity is much better than other commodities as it is very limited. There will be a lot of volatility in the short-term. Thinks the stock will come back.
COMMENT
Great global franchise. If you had to put it on a shopping list of stocks you want to buy as the market bottoms this would definitely have to go on the list.
BUY
A great opportunity. Been under enormous pressure because of concerns on the global economy. Moving into an era where we are bringing in 3 billion people into a free-market economy. Yields on agriculture will have to be boosted significantly. Phenomenal profit characteristics in the form of good gross margins.
BUY
(Market Call Minute.) Thinks it will have a big bounce back. Doesn't think agriculture is going to go away.
TOP PICK
A global leader in the agriculture business. This could be one of the companies that sees earnings growing next year. A lot of the earnings are in US$. Trading at well under 5X next year's earnings.
BUY
At current levels, Agrium (AGU-T) and Potash (POT-T) are both looking compelling. Difficulty in that the fundamentals of both companies are overwhelmed by the credit crisis and fears in some circles that agriculture will not have access to enough credit to be able to farm at the same pace as in the past. Could go lower before going higher. Good for a 5-year hold.
BUY
Bottomed over the last week or so. Doesn't have a MACD Buy signal yet, but it is very close. The whole agricultural sector is expected to recover.
BUY
It’s at 5x next year’s earnings, even if you cut the earnings in half. If you are underweight, buy more otherwise hold.
DON'T BUY
Well-managed company but it can take a long time to recover and could go lower.
DON'T BUY
For a really long term it will be good, but in the next year, no. It has a gap where it opened on day lower than the close of the previous. In a recovering rally it could do well. If it spends time in that gap, then you can buy it and set the stop loss in that gap. Keep stops tight.
BUY
Despite a global recession, people HAVE to eat. Diets are getting more protein rich and that implies you have to grow a whole lot more grains that the animals are eating. Terrific opportunity here for the entire sector.
