The million-dollar question: so where the price of uranium will go, because it's been dead for so long. Don't put new money into it. A long-term play, not short-term.
Went through a bit of a management change. A long time story. Cameco (CCO-T) own about 20%. Not getting a lot of attention and needs to get larger. Kind of in the development mode, which is boring to some investors.
Uranium space, since the Japanese earthquake, is dead money for smaller companies. They are not going to have the capital needed to develop their projects. No reason to be here for a couple of years at least.
There has been a lot of speculation on takeovers in the uranium sector but he doesn't see it for this company. He is still negative on the uranium sector.
Often one company in an industry is taken out and all the others act like they are in play. Can this one finance the extraction of their deposits. Uranium is an interesting contrarian area. They don’t interest him because they are too confusing, their balance sheets are ugly or they are in countries that he doesn’t like. If the whole sector is down then it is good for each stock.
Poised for a takeover? If you have a longer-term view, there are values in these uranium companies if you can project a $60-$70 uranium price again. You would have to hold a basket hoping that one of them would get taken over.
Thinks the whole uranium sector is cloudy right now. The only activity might be the scooping up of smaller producers by larger producers. To buy a stock based on this is not really the best reason. Feels there are better places to be.
