PCA is great acquisition for Suncor. 95% chance of it going forward. They will sell off some of the non-core assets. They are high beta to the price of oil.

Good core-holding if you want to be in the tar sands. Now a totally different situation with the proposed merger with Petro Canada (PCA-T). Situation has become somewhat confused with the Chinese making some bids on Petro Canada for the Libyan assets.

Merging with Petro Canada (PCA-T), which is creating a very large oil/gas Canadian company.

BUY ON WEAKNESS

Thinks oil will back off over the next 2 to 3 months. Try to buy in the mid-$20. Thanks the acquisition of Petrocan (PCA-T) is a great one.

COMMENT

Bonds. If oil prices remain low is there a risk of downgrade/bond default for mid-term notes? Yes, but only if oil goes down to a $20 level and stays there. Doesn’t see this happening.

HOLD

For the near term, he would prefer to be elsewhere. First-rate company and management but they swallowed a very big pill (merger with Petrocan (PCA-T)) and it will take some time to digest. Hold off until you see how this plays out.

Likes the Petrocan (PCA-T) merger. If it gets done they have access to less expensive capital, a pretty good cash flow and are diversified. If it doesn't get done the discount built into the stock recently comes out and you probably get a lift.

Possibly a takeover of Petrocan (PCA-T). Has not been a fan of Petrocan because he couldn't see where the growth came from. Thinks Suncor is having problems on the cost side and is doing acquisition from weakness.
