Petro-Canada (PCA.TO)

PAST TOP PICK
(Past top pick June 21/04. Up 3.4%.) Feels that earnings will be in excess of $6 and cash flow well over $12. Good profile going forward.
TOP PICK
Should probably be trading 30% higher than what it is. Has enormous scope going forward. A well-managed global company.
PAST TOP PICK
(Past top pick May 20/04. Up 1%.) Still likes. Cheaper by far than Shell or Imperial Oil.
PAST TOP PICK
(Past top pick July 6/04. Up 4%.) Probably the best of the integrateds. More growth. Have done a good job with the acquisitions.
DON'T BUY
Every Canadian portfolio should include a large and small cap in oil/gas. This one is not your best bet. Doesn't like the hedging.
STRONG BUY
At these oil price levels, the company will earn a lot of money. Have a little disappointment in gas production first-quarter but recovered in second-quarter. Should go higher from here.
BUY
The cheapest of the major integrated oils in the world because of the overhang of the federal government holding. Production problems are being corrected. Good management.
BUY
Pretty well likes all the oils.
BUY
Likes the energy stocks and their choices would be #1 CNQ, #2 Talisman and #3 Petro Canada. The government overhang on the stock continues to weigh on investors.
BUY
If the federal government got rid of their holdings, it would be very positive. Has good growth prospects. Their recent US acquisition will do well for them.
BUY
Trading below a lot of the integrateds. There will be a significant number of shares being released when the Canadian government sells their interest. A great buy for the long-term.
HOLD
Although they consider themselves as an integrated company, they have a lot of exploration going on. They need to change their mix to more of an integration. Fairly valued.
WEAK BUY
There is an overhang with respect to the government's potential sale of their 18% ownership. In the next 2/3 years they have to take steps to establish some growth.
WAIT
Will be buying up some of the shares from the Canadian government. The market is waiting for the government to sell their shares on the market. Has an interesting group of assets.
BUY
Inexpensive compared to the other majors. Having a little trouble articulating a growth story. Well levered to the higher commodity prices.
