Alcan Aluminum (AL.TO)

DON'T BUY
Certainly got overdone to the downside. Bouncing back now and China demand looks like it is increasing more than other metals. However, they will probably become a net exporter again at some point. It is now more than fairly valued.
TOP PICK
The price of aluminum has finally started to catch up to the price of other commodities. Also, China has made some announcements to curtail production, which is positive for the global supply demand picture. Trades at about 12 X next year's earnings. Peak earnings will probably be in the range of $5.50 Cdn.
BUY
Likes this one and will continue to own it. They can be producing some very good numbers next year. Aluminum is selling at good prices right now. Good price.
BUY
Has been fairly volatile and is starting to see its way back up again. Driven by strong aluminum prices. If you want aluminum prices, it's probably the best place to go.
DON'T BUY
Had a good run here. A lot of technicians feel this is a good time for this stock, however, since it has run so much recently, would look for other places to put your money.
TOP PICK
It's not that expensive and gives a good dividend. If you believe in growth in the world wide economy, this company can and will benefit from it. Had been troubled by the cost of energy. If we are in a plateau for energy prices now, you have a new cost base and demand is still out there.
DON'T BUY
The aluminum commodity looks fairly strong here and inventories have been shrinking. Have seen very good price performance from the underlying metal. Had a good quarter, but before buying would like to see another quarter from them.
BUY
Thinks it has now bottomed out. It is one of the major Canadian metal producers. Considerably down from its highs,
HOLD
Not aware of anything that is going to surprise the market with their earnings. He does like the macro picture more and more. Energy prices have come off. China's aluminum demand has increased about 21% and their production has only increased 15/16%. There is good global growth for aluminum demand.
DON'T BUY
Not a fan of this company. Their acquisition is not going as well as expected. Their input costs have gone up a great deal. There's a lot more capacity comiing on in the next little while from China, India, etc.
HOLD
Has been a disappointment. The high energy prices has hurt them.
TOP PICK
Aluminum prices are going to move up, it looks like $0.90 to $1 next year. A lot of their energy costs are on long term fixed contracts. It is also possible that there may be a lightening of energy prices as well. The high energy costs and the management changes have put a lot of pressure on the stock which has created a buying opportunity.
BUY
Has had a very disappointing performance over the last year. New CEO looks good. The drop in the stock price has more to do with industry fundamental rather than with company operations. She is continuing to buy for her clients.
BUY
A good time to get in. The stock is down because the market is concerned about cost pressures. This is a nice play for metals. Looking for the metals to being pretty strong starting in November and ending in February.
DON'T BUY
If it got down to $30, he would love to buy it. That would put it at 80% book and would be a superb buy.
