Agrium (AGU.TO)

TOP PICK
The replacement costs of all of their assets would be $90 to $100US. Could be a takeover.
BUY
There will be long term growth and demand for fertilisers, because of the change of dietary habits in the far east. You can look for a multiple of 20 X, which gets you up in the $60-$70 range.
BUY
More nitrogen than potash. Their earnings are dong very well at around $2.60 this year. On a multiple basis they are a lot cheaper than Potash (POT-T).
STRONG BUY
Fits into the theme of the long agricultural cycle. Very bullish on them. Targets in the mid 50's. Would buy at these levels.
BUY
Really likes the agricultural sector. Fundamentals are really strong. Inventories are tight.
BUY
Has done very well. Just had a minor pull back which meets the baseline of the 200 day average. Thinks that 41, 42 is a good buying opportunity, because it's in the materials sector.
HOLD
Had a disappointing quarter. Major expansion into Egypt, which may have political risk associated with it.
HOLD
Very profitable and doesn't have volatile earnings and profitability swings like the other materials group has had. Recently had a negative earnings surprise.
BUY
Prefers this over Potash (POT-T).
TOP PICK
Looking for a massive shift in the dietary habits of emerging markets.
BUY
Is in the right group, and has recently pulled back. At this point, in this phase of the market you want to be in a strong group, and this stock qualifies.
DON'T BUY
Everybody likes agricultural stocks. This stock had a fabulous run, so expect to see profit taking at some point. Expensive.
SELL
Fertilizer stocks, like this have a seasonal period of the end of June to end of December. Was extended this year due to the news that ethanol was important, giving farmers more money in their pockets to buy more fertilizer.
TOP PICK
Provides nitrogen fertilizer. They've had a good run but are still cheap. Are moving to expand into the middle east.
SELL
Acquired 19.6% of a Chinese specialty fertilizer company, Hanfeng. The agreement looks good on a long-term basis. Stock has had a great run. Can’t see much upside in nitrogen fertilizer in the short term. Trading close to replacement value, which is always a time to get out.
