UTS Energy (UTS.TO)

DON'T BUY
A speculation. No earnings visibility yet.
BUY ON WEAKNESS
Would be a great buy below $4. A year from now, as we get closer to things going forward, Americans will come back again into the tar sands story. Could see it going to $7.
DON'T BUY
A volatile one. As interest in the oil sands grew, this one went through the roof. Pretty expensive. In the oil sands, prefers Suncor SU-T) and Petro Canada (PCA-T).
WATCH
Have a significant interest in a partnership with Petro Canada (PCA-T) in in of the tar sands projects. Long term there is going to be real value there, but the project won't come on stream for 5/6 years. No revenue, no earnings, no cash flow. Will move up and down with American investor's appetite for tar sands energy.
DON'T BUY
A decent name. Has done fairly well lately. Brought in some partners. At the point where he would be a holder and maybe even a seller as it's gotten a little ahead of itself.
DON'T BUY
Wouldn't be buying at these oil price levels. Target price would be well below the current price.
PAST TOP PICK
(A Top Pick July 20/05. Up 80%.) Can still go higher. Have brought Teck Cominco (TEK.MV.A-T) in as their mining partner.
BUY ON WEAKNESS
US investors are now jumping all over our tar sands project. May be a bit ahead of itself. If it drops below $4 it will be a strong buy.
WAIT
In a partnership with Petro Canada (PCA-T) and Teck Cominco (TEK.MV.A-T) in an oil sands project. Won't have to put in a lot of money in this project. OK for a long term hold, but if you are looking for short term, wait. Just sold his holdings and is looking to buy cheaper in the next few weeks.
DON'T BUY
Have an interest in the oil sands and the stock has had a terrific run up. Probably fully valued.
HOLD
If you go strictly on the long term, the long term outlook is good. In the short term it is fairly fully valued.
BUY
Has the Foothills Canadian Oil sands. Sold 60% to Petro Canada (PCA-T) this year.
HOLD
Not sure that now is the time to be entering new positions in the energy sector. Would be looking for these energy stocks to start to hit new highs again before considering adding new positions.
BUY
A heavy oil project. They have a concession. Have some good partners. Had a checkered past, but recently things have looked better. An "over the horizon" kind of investment. Has come off and is in a buying range. For a patient investor, you could buy a little bit at these levels and when it comes down, buy a little more, but be willing to sit 3/4 years.
BUY ON WEAKNESS
At the lower end of the oil sands prospects. Not properly recognized in the market yet. They need a mining partner.
