TSE:TOY
Once owned it. Management has done well building this business. Toys are less cyclical than people think. Is generating a lot of cash flow. Now is an opprtunity for them--they can swoop in as Toys R Us winds down. Who knows--they may get acquired themselves down the road. They're smart to always think a few cycles ahead, testing their toys accordingly.
Bought this at about $25, and has since added to it. It’s exactly the kind of company he wants to own. They are using free cash flow to reinvest existing products or for acquisitions. Very well-run. All the toys are not going to be big hits, but this company has a very good track record of bringing innovative, unique products to market.
Had a position in his model portfolio, and he cut it in half prior to their earnings, because he was a little worried about the Toys "R" Us bankruptcy. This company just skated through that without any problems. Thinks they're going to have a great, great Christmas season. The company just seems to know what they are doing in the toy market. They've executed well, have beaten expectations and the stock is growing big enough now that large funds can buy it. This is so much better than their competitors.
He likes this company. He thinks heading into a dead money period. Very clean balance sheet and good cash flow. Very good business operators. Probably a good entry point here. A toy company in the portfolio is a good investment.
