Petro-Canada (PCA.TO)

PAST TOP PICK
(A Top Pick Sept 1/05. Down 5.8%.) Still a base stock in his portfolio. Has good long-term potential.
DON'T BUY
Not a huge fan. Growth is not as good as some of the other large caps. Also, it doesn't have any imminent catalyst.
WEAK BUY
One of the few integrateds that has been seeing earning revisions downwards as opposed to upwards. Still pretty cheap, but not a good enough reason to buy. If you believe energy is going to remain strong, you could nibble away at this one on weakness.
BUY
A good value play if you want some exposure to oil/gas. Good Strong balance sheet.
TOP PICK
Trading at 9 X cash flow. About 360,000 BOE’s a day this year going to 460 next year, only at 4 X next year's cash flow. By far the cheapest integrated. Has oil sands exposure. International growth.
HOLD
Has lagged some of the other integrated oil/gas companies because of production difficulties. Wait until you are more confident that they have been addressed.
BUY
The outlook for the oil/gas sector is strong. The companies are continuing to show fabulous cash flows.
HOLD
Looks pretty good. Would prefer Husky (HSE-T). It should do very well over the next 12 months.
BUY ON WEAKNESS
Have had problems in their offshore Atlantic holdings which has put a little bit of cloud over the company. One of the cheapest integrateds. Would buy under $50.
DON'T BUY
The cheapest of the integrateds. Some of his clients have a few holdings, but he prefers others such as Talisman (TLM-T), CNQ (CNQ-T) or Encana (ECA-T).
DON'T BUY
Production has been less than expected. Longer term its well positioned, but it will be very volatile. Trades at 11 X earnings, which is a significant discount to its peer group.
BUY
Performs relatively poorly compared to its peers. A good choice for the more conservative investor.
DON'T BUY
There was a high made in February and then a lower high in April and now another one in July. It's momentum is fading.
PAST TOP PICK
(A Top Pick May 29/06. Up 3.5%.) Still likes. The cheapest of the integrated oils. Trading at about 2.5 X book value.
TOP PICK
A bit of a “show me” stock but likes the assets. Very inexpensive. The company is going to shine at the end of this year and the end of next year.
