PAST TOP PICK
(A Top Pick Aug 24/10. Down 0.16%.)
PAST TOP PICK
(Top Pick Dec 17/09, Up 16.91%) Still holds, still likes and would buy at these prices.
TOP PICK
Growing subscriber base at about 5 million a month. Recently got the franchise to sell Blackberry in China. Well managed company.
PAST TOP PICK
(A Top Pick Dec 17/09. Up 10.30%.) Still likes.
DON'T BUY
On China's mobile/fixed line market there is lots of price competition. Data and smart phone business is exploding there. They still have a 2G network so there are a lot of problems.
DON'T BUY
(Market Call Minute.) Their decision to pursue North America technology (?) standard is incredibly shortsighted.
TOP PICK
Has been one of the worst performers in China and has under performed the index by about 50% or so. Yielding over 4%. 500 million subscribers and growing.
BUY ON WEAKNESS
Seems to be an uptrend in-place from March. There is a little bit of consolation right now and is above its moving averages. Looks pretty good overall. If it pulls back to $47-$48, it could be a buy.
TOP PICK
Largest mobile phone company globally. 450 million subscribers and adding 5-7 million new subscribers every month. Take in more cash than they spend.
TOP PICK
Has grown about 30% in the last 10 years and is projected at 20% a year going forward. Trading at 10X with a 4% yield. One of the largest companies in China so many flowing in will tend to go here.
PAST TOP PICK
(A Top Pick Feb 22/08. Down 31%.) Largest cellular provider in the world. Growing at 5 to 6 million a month. Stock weekend as China went through a restructuring of the telecom industry. Still have a lot of room for growth.
BUY
Largest cellular company in the world. The dominant operator in China. It will respond as China's actions start picking up over the next 6 months.
WATCH
Sold her holdings last year because she saw cracks in the horizon regarding profitability and future CapX. Penetration is almost there. Even the rural area, which was supposed to be the growth, is actually fully penetrated. Consider buying at about 30% less. 3% yield roughly.
COMMENT
Largest cell company in the world. Expect they do pretty well over the next 5 years but competition could get a little tougher as there has been a new restructure of the Chinese telecom industry. Government would like to see a more balanced playing field.
DON'T BUY
Great growth story in the Chinese emerging market. Have a 70% share of Mobile and 400 million customers. Regulators are trying to change the playing field in China so risk has risen. Capital expenditures could increase with the governments requirement of 3G standard. Use caution.
