DON'T BUY
One of the weaker stocks. Most golds traced out a symmetrical triangle and tried to break out. Goldcorp dropped down. Better places to be.
HOLD
A leader in its space. Probably undervalued. Got taken down on an acquisition in September but has been bouncing back up. Getting close to its resistance points.
DON'T BUY
Paid too much for Glamis Gold, but ended up with a good management team. He can get more leverage with other companies.
BUY
Feels gold will be between $700-$800 next year. One of his three favourite intermediate gold companies.
DON'T BUY
Had a recent merger with a former president trying to block the merger giving it a bit of froth. A little expensive. Solid company.
DON'T BUY
The honeymoon is over for this company. No longer a pure gold play but is diversified in base metals.
BUY
Longer-term, There will be a stronger price for gold, but will continue to be volatile. Over the next few years, it will be a good area to invest in. Although juniors will give a great return, he prefers large caps which are safer.
TOP PICK
Had owned Glamis Gold which was acquired by Goldcorp. This has by far the best growth of any senior company. Will become a world growth “go to” name for non-Canadians.
BUY
A fairly good entry point. Has higher-highs on gold. Fairly interesting growth profile.
TOP PICK
His favourite name in gold was Glamis and Goldcorp just completed its acquisition, making it the pre-eminent large cap gold company in North America. 2.5 million ounces of production and the lowest cost producer. Not hedged.
TOP PICK
Will be off the headline news once the lawsuits are settled. The merger with Glamis makes a lot of sense.
HOLD
Good fundamentals and is optimistic on the direction of gold. Could go much higher. It has to stay above the $28 level, and if it does, the implied direction is still higher.
BUY
When you get the companies that are in play, they are tough to look at technically. Feels that gold generally is a Buy and likes to buy on a pull back.
BUY
Acquisition of Glamis Gold (GLG-T) is a pretty good deal and will make this company the pre-eminent unhedged gold producer in North America. If you feel that gold is going to be in the $700/$800 range, it looks OK.
DON'T BUY
Their big issue is their bid for Glamis (GLG-T) and is getting a little messy. Would wait for this to shake itself out before buying.
