HOLD

They report in the next couple of weeks and expects it will be focused on the integration of Shaw Communication. Thinks the acquisition will be positive for them in the long-term.

HOLD

As a long-term hold in the energy patch, it is a nice core holding. Recently sold some assets which gives them some breathing room in the event commodity prices remain lower for longer. It has probably already gone through the worst.

HOLD

Potash prices are extremely low. One possible catalyst is that India signed a contract, so the next big contract should be China. Cut its dividend in the 1st quarter by 34%. It is still yielding about 6%. We have to continue seeing potash prices improving going forward. Doesn’t feel potash prices can go much lower, but it is a question of how long they continue to stay at this level. There is no immediate catalyst. If you own, she would continue to hold for now. She prefers Agrium (AGU-T).

DON'T BUY

This has got a lot of growth momentum behind it. As a value oriented investor, she struggles with its valuation. There are a lot of expectations built into the stock.

PARTIAL BUY

Canadian Banks? She likes the banks as a group, although they were more attractively valued a few months ago. While our economy lags that of the US, it is slowly going to start to improve. That will be beneficial for the banks. Most banks are yielding 3.5%-4%. Earnings growth is kind of mid-single digit range, and she thinks the dividend growth will track earnings growth. She would initiate a half a position, and not buy it all here. If we get the general market pullback, the banks will come back as well.

BUY

They’ve been restructuring their portfolio and selling off non-core, and trying to focus more on big segments of their business. If you want exposure to Pharma, this is fine. The worst is probably behind them.

COMMENT

This has transformed itself from only cheque writing into back-office for financial companies. Made a big US acquisition last year, which was a favourable move. She is watching this, because she wants to see how the integration plays out.

COMMENT

Thinks they are going to have difficulty living up to their production targets they had set out. This is really a long term play on electric cars. Company is not profitable, and yet are looking at acquiring a non-profitable company. She would like to see more visibility as to when they are actually going to start making money.

HOLD

(Market Call Minute.) A good company. A lot of potential international expansion, but it is pricey. Wait for a pullback before adding.

BUY

(Market Call Minute.) This is a play on the US housing market. household formation and employment improvement. They have a very good capital program.

HOLD

(Market Call Minute.) The stock has done very well, so wait for a pullback before buying.

SELL

(Market Call Minute.) There is very little visibility as to what the earnings profile is going to be.

TOP PICK

The leading global appliance manufacturer, and is developed and developing markets. 50% of revenues and about 7% of profits come from the US. Penetration rate in the US market is about 79%. The lifespan of appliances is about 10 years, so it is now going through a replacement cycle. Also, there is increasing housing turnover or renovation work. In emerging markets, penetration is about 30% in India and China, so there is lots of long-term potential for them to grow in those markets.

TOP PICK

Internet names have pulled back in the last few weeks, and are just starting to recover now. This is well positioned for a secular play on Internet online advertising, because they are the leading search engine. They will garner a good portion of the advertising budgets for companies that do that. Online advertising only accounts for about 35% of the overall budget, so she thinks it is going to be continued growth in that category. Attractively valued.

TOP PICK

She likes the grocery business because the square footage growth has been moderating, and this company has different multiple formats. They have implemented a new SAP IT systems and are starting to see the benefits of that. She also likes Shoppers, their drug retail business. Dividend yield of 1.47%.
