Next big catalyst for this company will be when Fidel Castro dies because US and Cuban relations will thaw tremendously. Pays a pretty good dividend. Their bonds also have pretty good yields on them. A bit speculative, but pretty solid.

SELL

There was tremendous enthusiasm and excitement about the whole Bakken play. If you own, you might want to consider this for tax loss selling. You can always buy it back 30 days later.

HOLD

Big operating copper company with mines in Spain, Finland, Greece and Panama. First Quantum (FM-T) has just made an offer. He believes that there will be other bids as well and should go for at least $80 a share and possibly $85.

COMMENT

Remarkable how much faith people have put into the new management. Stock is up 40%. He is a little worried that people have gotten over enthusiastic about the turnaround story. It’s not that easy to change it overnight.

DON'T BUY

The trouble with natural gas is that there is a lot of it around. The amount in storage in the US is actually over the chart. Doesn’t feel there will be a price increase for natural gas.

TOP PICK

Has sold off by over 30% for no particular reason. Trading at 14X trailing earnings and with cash on the balance sheet and a dividend yield of about 2%, this is now a value play. Doesn’t have to grow at much more than 15% per year to justify a $600 stock price. With Apple TV, it could be a game changer for the entire entertainment industry, and this is not valued at all in the stock.

TOP PICK

Sobey family holding company has an estimated net asset value of $75 to $80 per share but the stock trades at under $60. This is a classic value situation in which rising dividends, a healthy balance sheet and undervalued assets will eventually lead to a nice increase in share prices.

Has cleaned house and has a new CEO and soon, new Board members. In the meantime, it continues to win new contracts in Canada and elsewhere and has a record backlog of more than $10 billion. When the headlines disappear the stock price will rise back to the $50+ level last seen in 2011.
