PAST TOP PICK

(A Top Pick Dec 19/11. Down 34.86%.) Averaged down on this because he believes this company is very well-positioned. Over the last few years they were beset by a lot of setbacks such as floods, poor crops or shipments being stopped. This is beginning to reverse itself. Pulses are increasing globally. Diversifying into food ingredients. Also, have a presence in Turkey which will do well to service that part of the world.

PAST TOP PICK

(Top Pick Dec 2/11, Down 38.31%) It hit the exit level and he got out. Would not own it right now. IT has double bottomed. He may look at it again. Technicals broke down.

PAST TOP PICK

(Top Pick Dec 2/11, Down 42.56%) He lost $3-$4. He always puts an exit point on it. He would not hold it right now.

TOP PICK

Prefers over AGU and POT. Has a niche in chick peas and split lentils and pulses. Thinks we will see better earnings coming from them over the next few years. Yield 4.6%. They are well positioned to service growing demand.

BUY

Has done well in terms of recovering lost ground from the last few years. Market for pulse is definitely on the upswing as more economies develop.

WATCH

Extremely leveraged to the pulse market and a consolidator. Pulse is a great market in Asia so is obviously a call option on the level of buying capacity in Asia among the trading community. Company has been in the penalty box in terms of earning power and ability to grow revenues independent of what is going on in Asia. Market is looking stronger in the back end of the year for buying capacity to come back into Asia. If that’s the case, this is a good point to look at this but he will wait for them to report a quarter or so.

SELL
His company has this rated as an “underperform” with the target of $8 so feels there is a little more downside. India is playing games in terms of the pricing of legumes. They control the bulk of the global market.
HOLD
This is probably an excellent price. Thinks the dividend is okay. They are expanding globally.
BUY
He still owns it and is averaging down. In the long-term this company has real value. In the last few years they have had a lot of problems. Their debt has gone up but a lot of people fail to realize a lot of the debt is working capital. If you strip that away the debt to equity is not that bad. Dividend is secure.
SELL
Had a bad quarter but pay a good dividend. Has looked at the revised forecasts and it is clearly not going broke, but doesn't see $13-$15 so it is still not a Buy.
BUY
Will this be affected as farmers are allowed to market wheat through other means than the Wheat Board? People in the pulse market already have those options, however there is value in the distribution whether it is grain, pulses or other agriculture products. This is one of the world leaders in pulse distribution.
COMMENT
Will this company be affected positively as farmers are allowed to market wheat through other means than the Wheat Board? This company is not in wheat, they are in lentils, which is a very specific market. There are issues with the Indian production.
BUY
(Market Call Minute.) Had a bad quarter earnings should improve.
PAST TOP PICK
(Top Pick Mar 3/11, Down 48.19%) Have had the perfect storm. Faced floods, fires, and unsettled conditions. They had foreign exchange losses in the recent results which where disappointing anyway. All of these things went wrong in a very tight manor and going forward they think things will be more normal. Would prove to be a good buy if they get back to $2 a share over the next couple of years.
TOP PICK
(Top Pick Mar 3/11, Down 48.26%) He has kept close tabs on this company. Suffered a lot as of late. Most of exports to UAE – portion of that going to Iran have not been paid for. They are insured up to 90% of their shipments. So he thinks market is not giving them credit for that. They have expanded operations over the last year in Turkey and the US.
