WAIT
Starting to look good but you are in better to be prudent than to jump in right now. He'd rather pay $3, $4, $5 higher and know there is no double dip. Still has clouds over it. (See To0p Picks.)
WATCH
Getting to the point where it is going to be putting a bottom in here someplace. Wait for a bottom and some upside action with volume before trading. Expecting a comeback. Summer historically is pretty slow.
COMMENT
Banks have been taken down pretty well on a fundamental basis and he is accumulating some of them. Good yield but he prefers Scotia (BNS-T), Bank of Montreal (BMO-T) and Toronto Dominion (TD-T).
DON'T BUY
Just reduced his gold holdings by selling this stock as it was lagging compared to the rest of them. If gold goes up and makes new highs, which it could do this summer he would prefer others.
COMMENT
Good yield and not too volatile.
DON'T BUY
He is trying to position his energy stocks with more yields. Nothing wrong with this one, great operation and well run but only pays 1%. The Petrocan merger, long-term, is a good one. Energy stocks generally are not strong in the summer (See Top Picks.)
SELL
Good company but there is not a lot of money flowing into the sector right now. If you can see it as a longer-term hold for a year or so, you may want to stick with it.
BUY
Likes this from the perspective point of the business model and a great yield.
TOP PICK
Great defensive stock and probably one of the top REITs in Canada. Have announced they are going to increase their distribution each quarter for the next 2 years. Great portfolio across Canada. Should do very well when Encana Tower in Calgary is completed. Current market will give you plenty of opportunities pick away on Dips. 5% yield.
TOP PICK
Stock has gone sideways for a long time but very well run. Gas play in the Montney and he is positive on gas for the long-term. Accumulate these while they are cheap.
TOP PICK
Has about twice the yield of Manulife (MFC-T) and Sun Life (SLF-T). Stable base gives its stability. He has traded this buying below $24-$25 and selling in the high $20's. In this range, you can accumulate this.
PAST TOP PICK
(A Top Pick July 10/09. Up 49.08%.)
PAST TOP PICK
(A Top Pick July 10/09. Down 4.16%.) Precious metals on the silver side have not done as well.
PAST TOP PICK

TOP PICK
Gold miners ETF. Prefers this because equities are actually outperforming gold right now. Rather than a Cdn ETF, use this one and hedge it because if gold goes higher, Cdn$ will strengthen in this environment. Expecting gold to be $1440 by year-end. He is hoping gold will drop to about $1180 in the near term.
