DON'T BUY

Not his favourite. They don’t play in spaces he wants to be in.

BUY

He loves this company. It is a dividend grower, conservatively managed and a core holding of his. It is a conservative parking spot for people who are worried about the markets.

PAST TOP PICK

(Top Pick Aug 6/15, Down 8.66%) He thinks they did a smart and innovative thing. They are now doing healthcare in the home as well as having a doctor in every location. He is still bullish.

PAST TOP PICK

(Top Pick Aug 6/15, Up 21.21%) He thinks it is a great company. He likes the recurring revenue from their various products. He also likes that you are buying lottery tickets on all the things they are inventing.

PAST TOP PICK

(Top Pick Aug 6/15, Up 30.22%) A spare parts company for humans. He knows so many people who are getting parts replaced or getting implants. The population is aging. Demographics change very, very slowly.

DON'T BUY

During ‘08/’09, this was the only stock he owned that cut its dividend. Insurance companies invest your premiums. Traditionally they buy bonds. Bond yields are a real headwind for insurance companies. POW-T is better, or a Canadian bank.

BUY

He thought their guidance was pretty good. People think the US auto cycle has peaked. He disagrees. He thinks so few cars were sold after 2008 that there is still a lot of replacement to go. These are a bunch of pretty smart guys with a solid position in the industry. He prefers this one to others.

BUY

It is hampered by the strong US dollar. But it is a great company with great products. The jet aircraft industry shows terrific growth going out over 10 years. Exporting is hard with a strong US dollar. He thinks there is room for dividend growth. It is a bet on the US economy.

DON'T BUY

He will never again own airline stocks. They are too volatile. At the end of the day an airline seat is a commodity, but it expires the moment the plane takes off. He is not tempted.

BUY

He likes it. It is his first or second pick of the Canadian banks. It is cheaper and has a higher dividend yield. They did a great job of strengthening the balance sheet.

BUY

The street gets overly focused on iPhone sales from quarter to quarter. Apple also has a big cloud business. There will be a big conversion to the iPhone 7 when it comes out, but don’t wait till then.

BUY

It has industries under them that he is not that keen on, but he holds it because of an expected shakeup to release value upon the death of one of the principles.

DON'T BUY

(Market Call Minute) Tremendous recovery. He is not bullish on gold at all.

SELL

(Market Call Minute) All mutual fund companies will get hit by the upcoming discloser of fees. Funds should move to ETFs.

BUY

(Market Call Minute) Loves it, thinks it is a wonderful company. It is basically a toll road on every commercial transaction which takes place in a retail environment. He likes toll roads.
