SELL

He is one of the few bears on this stock. You are paying about 22X forward earnings for single digit growth. If he owned it he would be selling it.

N/A

Alpha and Beta stocks? Beta means how an individual stock consistently moves relative to the market. If the market goes up 20%, they go up 25%. If the market drops 20%, they’ll go down 25%. If you are bullish, you put a lot of high Beta stocks into your portfolio. Beta is a number relative to 1 with 1 being in line with the market. Alpha is about an individual stock irrespective of the market. Can this company grow irrespective of the market?

DON'T BUY

Doesn’t find the valuation that attractive. Growth is slowing down a little bit. Haven’t added the product categories at the same rate that Pepsi (PEP-N) has. You won’t lose money on it but he doesn’t see big upside. Earnings growth has clearly slowed down.

HOLD

Has had a rough year. Sold his holdings this summer when management was talking less bullishly about their outlook. New management has focused a little bit more on cost reductions, more possible growth. They still have a great international portfolio of projects. Thinks it is worth more split up then it is as an entity right now.

DON'T BUY

Nothing wrong with this here. Earnings growth is slowing down and valuations are back at the high end of the range again. Doesn’t see that much short-term upside. He’d be more inclined to add something from the US such as Citibank (C-N), J.P. Morgan (JPM-N) or BankAmerica (BA-N). These have way more potential upside.

DON'T BUY

Even though he is bullish on the overall economy and the auto sector, steel pricing is still getting squeezed, especially for the integrated producers. Still have some of the older problems such as pension issues and excess supply.

BUY

Thinks the uranium stocks are starting to turn. Juniors haven’t really started moving yet. He likes these junior/midsized plays. (See Top Picks.)

DON'T BUY

Have always done well in the coating business and that is sort of expanding. Stock has done so much better than anything else in the group because of speculation it would be taken out. It may yet come about but he doesn’t really want to roll the dice on that one. Prefers others.

SELL

There are a lot of bullish people on this one and it is positive but he is not a big fan of airlines. Has had a good run. If he owned, he would be taking money off the table.

TOP PICK

Looks at where China stands in their development of projects and looking within the pipeline for the next number of years, he sees demand going higher. There is a tightness of supply. Great growth profile. Going to 12 million pounds over the next year. Thinks there is a large player liquidating the position, which has held the lid on the stock. If you start to get through the supply as it disappears, at some point this thing could really pop.

TOP PICK

Gold stocks are cheap relative to gold bullion. Thinks that gold can probably get through $2000. As you depreciate currencies, gold goes higher by default. Valuation is as cheap as he has ever seen it. Good variety of properties. Well diversified. New management is talking a better story in terms of cost management, cost reductions, managing their growth profile.

TOP PICK

Trading at only 7-8 times forward earnings. Obviously the risk is that the C series has problems but he is betting that it gets off the ground. The recent orders they picked up from Delta and an unknown overseas name, are positive. The private jet division continues to do well. Doesn’t have a major debt repayment until 2016.
