A tough one for a lot of Canadian investors. Had been a wonderful company for a long time. Took a big bite when it bought the coal assets and are now paying for it. Coal shipments are down 10%, which hurts the cash flow. Have a $5.8 billion bridge loan coming due in September.
DON'T BUY
Massive dilution to the equity stakeholders and it's going to be very hard to make money. The $.13 stock price tells you what the market thinks. Speculation.
COMMENT
US Banks: His strategy is all about buying the leader. You want the absolute best companies in sectors that have come out of favour. He has small stakes in Goldman Sachs (GS-N) and Morgan Stanley (MS-N), which stand a very good chance of coming out of this in the right end. Thinks there will be some nationalization. When that occurs, it will be destabilizing and a lot of equity stakeholders will lose their money.
COMMENT
Has a nice series of higher highs and higher lows since November that you can use to recognize inflection points where behaviour is changing.

One of the 3 biggest oil service companies in the world. They are across a whole bunch of different product lines. The issue right now is going to be how much money is big oil going to spend in going out to find new reserves with oil in the $30's.
WAIT
There's a lot of pressure on the lifeco’s right now. Questions around their capital ratios and their ability to pay on some of the products they have sold. Hitting new 52-week lows.
WAIT
Not the time to be a buyer. Stock has been consolidating since October technically. Obviously they are challenged on the cost front with high costs and low priced commodity. Would consider it at $30, as this would tell him that things were improving technically.
BUY
When you buy this company, you are buying their ability to invest the float, in other words, how successful can they be with the money they have in their care. They have done a marvellous job. P & C companies are performing well as a whole.
BUY
Likes software. Great recurring revenue line. Would prefer something with higher growth such as Oracle (ORCL-Q). Doesn't see how you will get hurt in this stock. If you are looking for something that will participate when things get better, this will.
BUY
Likes the services side a lot as they aren't challenged financially given the current environment. Have long-term contracts which means that cash keeps coming in every month. (He owns cognizant technologies. (CTSH-Q)).
SELL
(Market Call Minute.) Doesn't like the energy space.
BUY
(Market Call Minute.) Got stopped out recently when it broke through $57-$58. A defensive name.
DON'T BUY
(Market Call Minute.) Stay away from the drillers.
