Hap (Robert) Sneddon FCSI iShares Trust Dow Jones U.S. Telecom Sector Fund IYZ-N PAST TOP PICK Sep 21, 2017

(A Top Pick June 30/16. Down 5%.) His return was almost 18%. Sold it in early February this year. If you still, he probably would not be looking to Sell today, but would be looking to buy it in the next 4-5 months. Has a pretty good yield.

TOP PICK

In a really good space. Seasonality is coming up for it and it is happening a little bit early. Risk/reward is really good. Chart shows a couple of places where support will come in. If it breaks above the $30 level, it would be really positive. Has a target of $35.50.

COMMENT

The only telecom name he has is Rogers Communications (RCI.B-T). When you look at the environment we are in right now, it seems we are rotating to more defensive names, and telecom would be one of those spaces. This ETF gives a pretty nice dividend. There are some growthier names in here and some old school cash flow type of names. He likes this.

TOP PICK

One of the few sectors that has got increasing earnings. Chart shows a nice long upward trend from 2012 until 2014, when it goes sideways, but has now had a nice little breakout this year.

PAST TOP PICK

(A Top Pick Aug 21/15. Up 14.56%.) This was a defensive position where there was talk about rates going to go up. This still ranks really well on the longer-term data.

COMMENT

He is a fan of using ETF’s in spaces that are very volatile. Because the telephone space is not very volatile, this is not necessarily mandatory. He doesn’t own any US telecoms at this time. You have to remember that Trump has indicated he wants to bring down regulations. Loves the space and the yield is great, so you are in the right space.
