Has watched this. A really interesting streaming business. We typically see streaming companies in the energy or mining. This is in agricultural and they stream with canola. What he likes is that they are going to have great cash flow, but they are going to have to build out that base. Still a fairly new company. If you have a longer time frame, this is one you could look at. Doesn't screen super well in his process for earnings, but thinks it's just a matter of time.
These royalty streaming models are becoming more popular. This one is well run with a very interesting model. They continue to produce better numbers, but at the same time they are fairly cashed up from their recent deals. Will probably deploy that over the next few months. We should see higher numbers going into the fall, winter and next year when they bring the crops in.
They give a cheque to the farmer up front which then gives the company the rights to the streaming production. Very interesting concept and fairly unique in Canada. Canola is a very expensive crop to plant and farmers always need working capital to plant the seed and work the crop. Management team is pretty good. This is early stage. It was not that long ago were they made their 1st canola delivery. They’ve only had one season and the next season will be far more telling for the potential. This is okay for a riskier investment.
Their model is refinancing for farmers where they get a royalty stream back. Good management. Great idea. This is a unique type of company so if you want exposure into agriculture, this is a very good vehicle. Stock may be a little bit ahead of itself at this point, but long-term, they have a winner.
New public company. A western Canadian operation in the streaming of Canola. Extraordinarily astute people running it. Strong relationships in the market and in politicians. Building a very interesting operation. They can offer better financial services to the farmers. This is quite early in this one.
A really unique business. They finance, farmers’ inputs (fertilizer, green, etc.) in exchange for part of the crop. Thinks it is exclusively canola right now. He would watch for a year to make sure the business model works because there are a lot of variables and a lot of unknowns. They also have to get the farmers comfortable. Smart management. Could be very interesting.
