Stockchase Opinions

Bruce Campbell (2) GreenPower Motor Company Inc. GPV-X TOP PICK Jun 29, 2021

E-cars were a super hot trend. GPV make e-cars like cutaway vans and schoolbuses. They use a wireless charging technology, so vehicles can always be charging. Biden wants to phase out gas buses by 2025, so this a  big opportunity. GPV numbers of last night aren't EBITDA-positive, but will be EBITDA positive later this year or next (after higher car production) which is rare in the e-car space. GPV flies under the radar, but also trades on the Nasdaq, so they have cash to allow them to grow. (Analysts’ price target is $53.08)

They make electric buses. This is a good place to be. They are just starting to make deliveries. The stock price doesn’t yet reflect good news. It doesn’t trade much. He expects it to do well in the future. He is hanging onto his shares. He likes the management team and sees this as a multi-year play.

COMMENT

BUS vs. GPV. There’s a lot of money flowing into this space. Some of the emissions scandal money is going to school boards to buy busses. GPV has more upside in the short term. It’s volatile, but has done well. Great management team, who have put a lot of their own money in. Anticipates announcements on GPV’s order book.

TOP PICK
All electric buses. Vans to double deckers. There is tremendous interest from all levels of governments. The transit authorities are terrified of ride-share services. The more aggressive ones are moving into this and need smaller buses. This is their biggest seller. (Analysts’ price target is $4.01)
BUY
California is pushing hard for electric buses. Uber Share is encroaching on buses, so cities are looking at smaller buses that can pick you up near your home instead of a bus stop. GPV has pretty good demand. He has high hopes for GPV.
COMMENT
Really likes the all electric bus they are making. School buses and shuttles are ideal for electric buses. Would have a small position and see how it performs since there will be volatility. (Analysts’ price target is $3.96)
COMMENT

They just posted record revenues. E-buses run on specific routes, and so are aware of their battery ranges and to allow time to recharge them. Meanwhile, this technology will advance. GPV will take off depending on cities' budgets--if cities spend on e-buses, then GPV will hugely benefit. GPV remains a small company, so he doesn't hold it yet. If you want to invest in e-buses, consider NFI who are bigger and more established. He prefers to own GPV in a mix of companies (i.e. ETF) when that happens.

HOLD
There is a lot of froth in the green space area. He thinks there is a shift to people wanting to trade these at a premium. Longer term it makes sense to hold this, but be careful chasing names in this space.
PAST TOP PICK

(A Top Pick Jun 29/21, Down 78%) Stopped out. Still loves the company. Continues to deliver and hit its marks. Awesome investment for a long-term investor. Could be taken out eventually. Bright future.

BUY ON WEAKNESS
Spiked, sold off. Smaller company, growing but without solid earnings. Recently, announced sale of 100 vehicles. Sold some school buses last quarter. Big move so far this year, around 100%. At a point where they're ramping up.
