Because the view of a weakening US$ is so uniform, there could be a bit of a rally in the near term. Over the longer term, it will still be weak. The pull back in junior golds could last 6/12 weeks, so bit by bit, week by week, they keep buying juniors such as Bema and Cambior. El Dorado should participate as well.
The biggest upside is their Russian project which is a high-grade one. Seems to be able to navigate through the system successfully. Also have a good project in Chile which is very capital intensive.
Newspaper article suggested a possible takeover by Kinross (K-T) which would make synergy sense. Wouldn't be surprised if it happened. A middle tier type company. Some good assets, but analysts don't like it because of the cost and location. Probably one of the 3/4 takeover candidates in this size.
Big fan of management. Earnings just came out and were slightly under. They will also get some help with the former deal they had with Placer Dome. A good company.
Bema Gold Corp. major project is in Russia. It is highly likely that they are a takeover target. He likes the company and the management. Recommends to hold and stay with the company.
It's had a great run up. Likes Clyde Johnson. Barrach may want to re-look at projects in Chilli, and possibly Russia.
It has to pull back when gold pulls back but it is a company that on any sustained weakness he would like to own.
