SELL
Merged with Canetic (CNE.UN-T) and bought Vault (VNG.UN-T). Now has a fair bit of gas so there is some worry about maintaining the distribution. Longer term it will be fine. They have a good land position. If they are going to take a hit on distributions, it will probably be in the next 6 months.
HOLD
Drilling in North Dakota. He is hoping that they have acquisition news because in selling their oil sands for over $1 billion, they paid off all their debts. The best balance sheet of any gassy producer. This is a long-term, positive position on gas.
BUY ON WEAKNESS
Held up better than he would have thought given the short-term outlook for gas. Entry point should be lower than the current price. Try to get it in the lower $60's.
DON'T BUY
Gold and copper producer. The US version of Goldcorp (G-T). A bit bigger and more international. More gold than copper, but a bit too much copper for him.
COMMENT
Would prefer Suncor (SU-T), which would give better growth.
COMMENT
The safest gold stock but has the least upside leverage. If you are expecting $1000 gold you'll want something smaller with more leverage. If just putting your toe in and it’s more portfolio insurance than an upside in growth, this would be the one.
BUY
Lagged because of the courts shutting down their mine in Turkey. 99% sure it will reopen in the next few months and, when it does happen, the stock will do well. If it does not happen, he is still looking at a stock price of $7.50.
COMMENT
The best run of the smaller Ontario auto parts manufacturing. The high Cdn$ hurts this whole area. They will work themselves out of it and the entry point is quite attractive. He is still not keen enough yet to buy. Would consider under $10, when it would be really compelling.
HOLD
(Market Call Minute.) Not his favourite bank. Even though some of the problems that it fixed it may be not a bad place.
HOLD
(Market Call Minute.) If you think gold is going further, he would prefer some of the others.
BUY ON WEAKNESS
(Market Call Minute.) Buy below $18. Wait for a pullback in gold prices.
HOLD
(Market Call Minute.) Has a huge preference for Rogers Communications (RCI.B-T). See Top Picks.
HOLD
(Market Call Minute.) Buy on a little further weakness. Sell at $40.
SELL
(Market Call Minute.) Would need more of a pipeline before he would even be interested.
HOLD
(Market Call Minute.) Wouldn't be tempted to buy. Zinc is the primary metal, which is much more economically oriented.
