DON'T BUY
Delaying their 1st quarter earnings, but don't read too much into that. Have been through a lot and it will be a long time repairing that culture. Has really slipped backwards in the business market. Still a tough end market for them.
DON'T BUY
Looks cheap with 9 X trailing earnings, but you look at that business software/services state, it is consolidating rapidly. You want to participate in the leaders. This may be what the market is saying. What will sustain them? Nothing compelling about this stock.
DON'T BUY
Likes to Buy businesses for the long term with the goal of a stock worth more in 3 years than at present. This company has done a great job in filling a niche in terms of document sharing but that niche is closing off rapidly.
WATCH
A solid franchise that they've been looking at for quite a while. Had an interesting quarter which identified a few geographies that were weak or thin. This may be a buying opportunity. He wants to understand what went on, whether there's anything substantial to the business. They may be restructuring, re-focusing their sales force to get close to the customer.
BUY
Twice as large as their nearest competitor which has allowed them to do extremely well in the emerging market. Dominating China and doing very well in S. America and doing well in Africa and making a lot of money. Profit margins have come down, but noone gets component pricing like them.
DON'T BUY
Have some concerns on this company. Have been crushed lately. Lost some major customers that were installing their air-cards. A niche that was created when cell phones first started to proliferate and there was access through the cellular networks. Did a good job of stepping in and bringing functionality to networks. Gorillas of the industry are eating away at that niche.
DON'T BUY
When the tech bubble burst, they had to transition their business away from their hard core optical which is no longer a strong franchise for them. Where they are making all their money is still a very tough end market.
DON'T BUY
There should be opportunities in the energy sector through alternative sources. Fuel cells seem like a natural way to do it. Not sure the automobile is the best application for the fuel cell. Would want to see some predictability of free cash flow.
BUY
One of the cornerstones of business software. Doesn't own at the present time, but would like to. Will wait to see if they can get it a little bit cheaper, although it is certainly starting to become very attractive. This is the kind of stock you can own, go away and know it will become stronger. It will be a consolidator. Would buy 5% lower.
WEAK BUY
A solid franchise. What is attractive is the dividend yield and the growth of that dividend. Over the long term, looking at their services, wire line, wireless, television, that's where there's some risk. Plenty of cash to support the dividend.
BUY
Looking very seriously at this one with this valuation. Have done a great job in the PC market with the graphic chips at the core of their franchise creating 90% of revenue. Have been very proactive moving into new markets, such as cell phones and flat panel display.
DON'T BUY
A tricky stock. A great franchise. Their settlement of the lawsuit was smart. Would like to own, but on a conservative forcast which you can't do on present forcasts.
DON'T BUY
Just reported. Had a tough quarter which helped trigger some of the tech collapse last week. Has gone from being one of the pillars of the tech industry with their market share having eroded fairly rapidly.
TOP PICK
Security software is the key area with virus protection, anti spam, anti worm, etc. They're across all platforms. A household name via Norton. Recently bought Veritask Software which really strengthens Semantec.
TOP PICK
World wide leader in supplier of semiconductor equipment to manufacturers. Great franchise, all kinds of cash.
