TOP PICK
Likes current correction in the stock price. Consolidating. Earned $0.67 in 2004 for October and $0.80+ year end. This year, they will make $1.40/1.50 and next year possibly $2. Will be using ceramic protection in police cars which is a whole new area for them. Debt free. With a ramping up of their manufacturing facilities, earnings will accelerate.
BUY
Performance has been disappointing. A couple of its end customers have announced new contracts for ceramic pieces for bullet proof vests. Expected to report on Aug 23 and earnings are projected to be $0.26. Ranks just out of the top quarter of his database. Feels there continues to be very good growth opportunities for it.
WEAK BUY
They are winning contracts and is well managed. Has a very strategic position within the global industry. A painful stock to own. They report earnings, it will jam up and then nothing will happen, someone will sell 50,000 and it will go down $3 or $4. Probably won't get the multiple they deserve because of liquidity problems.
PAST TOP PICK
(A Top Pick May 31/05. Down 9%.) Sold their position in order to get into oil/gas. Still likes and will probably be back to it.
HOLD
Very high quality in a very precious area such as ceramics, bullet proof vests, armour plating. Not sure where the punch is going to come from.
BUY
Stock ranks 303 out of 700 in the database (neutral). The big reason for the slowdown in the stock is that one of their end customers had put a hold on some of their purchases but is now gradually coming back. Looking out to '06, earnings are expected to grow from $1.23 to $1.61 which is about a 30% earnings growth and is about 10 X PE.
BUY
Ranks poorly at 532 out of 700 stocks. He owns it because there was an article in the New York Times suggesting better protection for their soldiers. The Calgary pliant is only running at 50% capacity. They have a new contract with Ford for a police car door inserts. Still thinks it has some pretty good opportunities.
BUY
Last year was pretty painful because the company didn't do anything while the sector was very strong. Has started to pick up the pace a little bit. A well run company that is at about a third of its valuation.
BUY
Has been getting hammered for very little reason. This has always been an Iraqi story even though a lot of their contracts are with US police forces. Incredibly cheap.
