(A Top Pick May 17/13. 8.38%.) This has certainly not been the best year for this company. Had some problems in the potash space at a time when they were expanding their potash operations significantly. Also, natural gas has become more expensive. One of the things he likes is their huge retail network. Still thinks the path is upwards. 3.3% yield.
Sell July 90 Puts at $10US. Used the US Puts as he likes the US dollar. One of the things that the US is going to have to do is not have any more interest rate cuts. The US$ will have to strengthen if they want to shave inflation off.
(A Top Pick Feb 12/08. Down 29%.) Had misunderstood that farmers were not cash rich. They couldn't afford to fertilize as much as they should have. Acquisitions are making will be accretive. Expect it will go back to $100 in 3 years.
(A Top Pick Apr 21/08. Up 11%.) Sold July $90 Puts at $10. This indicated he was willing to buy this stock at $90 until the 3rd Friday in July. Stock closed at $92.75 so the Put option expired worthless.
(A Top Pick July 29/08. Down 51.18%.) Sold his holdings in the fall when the markets started to fall. If you are Long consider selling a Call Option on it. Still believes fertilizer and still likes this one
Nice entry point due to planting season concerns, the "Jana Drama" with the hedge fund and concerns of natural gas going up. A very good footprint on the retail side. A couple of expansion programs are coming to an end, leaving more cash flow, which will go to share buy backs and dividends.
