TOP PICK
Stock has been sideways for a while but likes what they are doing and it could break out from here. Likes SAGD approach, which is much neater. Feels they are the leading edge of the oil sands area.
TOP PICK
Recently came off. Company has a lot of things going for it that banks don’t have in terms of diversification. Generous yield.
TOP PICK
BMG Bullion Fund. Has 1/3 gold, 1/3 silver and 1/3 platinum giving you a spread of bullion. Has done better than the gold stocks he owns. A low charge fund.
DON'T BUY
Banks have all virtually moved sideways over the last 4-5 months, this one in particular. Expects it will continue so don’t rush out to Buy. Prefers Bank of Nova Scotia (BNS-T).
PAST TOP PICK
(A Top Pick Oct 30/09. Up 35.65%.) Has been selling off which is probably profit taking. Good yield and expects an increase in dividends again in 2011.
PAST TOP PICK
(A Top Pick Oct 30/09. Up 19.82%.) Still likes.
PAST TOP PICK
(A Top Pick Oct 30/09. Up 18.86%.) Still Likes.
HOLD
On the cusp of showing excellent sales. Agriculture sectors in various parts of the world haven’t been using fertilizers, particularly in China. Corn belt in US had very mediocre yields, so expects their will be more demand there.
COMMENT
Has been acting much better lately. Came out with more news on their Playbook with more competitive pricing. (Only works if you have a Blackberry.) Thinks it will do very well.
DON'T BUY
Not one he would recommend. There are other oil stocks that are in a better space.
DON'T BUY
A “show me” situation. Would prefer Crescent Point (CPG-T). Have been missing production targets on a fairly regular basis and took a run at some Cardium properties in Alberta that investors weren’t too happy with.
DON'T BUY
Never had nerve to step into because of their situation. Have to like the auto space on a longer term basis and has been operating very well recently. Maybe that will continue, or maybe not. Feels auto sector is still in danger.
BUY
(Caller asked about Shawcor (SCL.A-T)but David talked media so I presume he misunderstood. Host didn't pick up on it. Your choice. - Bill)"Likes the media space. Very competitive sector but feels they will do OK."
TOP PICK
Nursing homes in US and Canada. Some small operational risks in the US because Medicaid and Medicare are struggling so increases are smaller and they have to have good cost controls. Just reported a disappointing quarter because of an insurance factor. Take that out and operations are fine. Don’t have a tax problem. 9% yield.
TOP PICK
Gold. Uniting with Pediment Gold (PEZ-T) to combine both their Mexican gold mines. Production will go from 35,000 ounces to 55,000, 75,000, 110,000 a year, a great growth pattern. Trading at almost half net asset value.
