TOP PICK
(A Past Top Pick Nov 13/06. Up 12%.) Likes the gold sector. Basically playing off the weakening US$. Recently announced a swap with Goldcorp (G-T). Goldcorp picks up some Canadian assets and Kinross gets $200 million plus additional positions in some South American assets. Gives them lower operating costs plus maintaining their production profile. Looking to do 1.65 million ounces this year, growing to 2.1 next year and then to 2.6 the following year.
TOP PICK
Traded down fairly aggressively on news coming out of Alberta on royalties. Created a great buying opportunity. Reported 97% success rate in the last quarter, 32 out of 33 holes were hit. A nice mix between light oil and gas. Cash flow is moving from $2.30 to $3.05 next year.
TOP PICK
Simulators and flight training. Very strong orders for new aircraft creating a need for simulators to train pilots. Given the growth rates in traveling, there will be a need for new products.
PAST TOP PICK
(A Past Top Pick Nov 13/06. Up 93%.) Made a strategic acquisition of forming operations in the US. It really boosted earnings per share. Earnings per share will grow from $1.10 to $1.30. Still a good Buy.
PAST TOP PICK
(A Past Top Pick Nov 13/06. Up 1%.) An interesting Buy point. Cash flows are looking stronger. Production metrics are moving up and are looking for 5400 to 5600 BOE's a day by year-end.
COMMENT
Deep gas drilling in Hungary. Just added new board members, which was significant in that it should help the overall scenario. An interesting spec at these prices. Need a partner to further develop their fields.
HOLD
Showing nice improvements in terms of loads on their aircraft. Feels the travel industry is going to get a bit of a boost here.
COMMENT
Recent spot price of uranium was $75, a reduction of about $10. Long-term contracts are old currying around $95. Thinks there will be a move back in the overall uranium price. This company has some production coming on stream. Permitting on this kind of stock is very long.
COMMENT
Broadband services out west and in France. Was on the expensive side and has now pulled back.
HOLD
Benefiting from the development out west. Has shown significant growth.
COMMENT
Not too excited by this one. Numbers will be coming out on October 26, which will give a better idea as to how growth is proceeding in the US.
BUY
Quite exposed to gas. Suspects that it is close to its bottom. As we start to see colder weather, some of these stocks are going to respond favourably. The announcement on the Alberta royalty review has created a buying opportunity. Good valuation.
COMMENT
Has done extremely well and has a very strong payout. You have to believe that the steel market and steel pricing will continue to hold up. If the construction cycle starts to wind down, you could get hurt.
SELL
If you aren't already in this stock, you have missed it. If you own, there is nothing wrong with taking profits.
HOLD
Doing reasonably well. The real issue here is going to be on royalties and taxation.
