James Hodgins Northern Graphite Corp. NGC-X WATCH Jan 29, 2013

Classic case of when tax loss selling ends in December and you get a nice bounce in some of the really oversold names. Graphite is an interesting space in that it is heavily used in lithium ion batteries, which is a growing field. He is waiting to see where production guidance actually goes to and when they actually start cash flowing before buying.

Recently did a financing. Believes graphite, which is used in lithium batteries, is the next big wave in Canadian mining. Owns a small position in this one but may be adding to it. Wait until the financing comes off of restrictions, which could create some weakness.
COMMENT

The most advanced of the graphite companies. This is slate graphite, which is the most important. Very dedicated company. Production is probably 2-3 years away. He is not an enormous fan of graphite. Prefers the metals.

COMMENT

He doesn’t follow this company, but generic comments on graphite is that if you are keen on Elon Musk and Tesla, you should be keen on graphite. There is literally more graphite in lithium ion batteries than there is lithium. However, graphite is not all the same. You want really, really course graphite for batteries. You can use really, really fine graphite, to make pencils. Thinks this is a great opportunity, and hopefully the market will end up coming to the realization that you need graphite.

COMMENT

We haven’t made many graphite discoveries in the world, mainly because there hasn’t been very much graphite required, relative to the supply. The graphite market is extremely technical, and not all graphite deposits are created equal. If you don’t understand the technology behind graphite and the various grades and qualities of graphite, be very, very cautious.
