TOP PICK

This comes down largely to discretionary income. They are into online flowers, popcorn, chocolate, wine tasting, gift baskets, etc. This one has really turned around. Had a huge debt load that they have been paring back. Revenues have gone up and debt has gone down. They are profitable again. Can see it going back over $10.

TOP PICK

Had a bad quarter but Christmas is a big quarter for them. They got rid of all their debt except for Christmas inventory. An industry leader.

PAST TOP PICK

(A Top Pick Jan 18/13. Up 41.46%.) Had a bunch of problems because they had so many orders for Christmas. Orders over the Internet went up about 65%, so UPS could not do all the deliveries. Lost money last quarter which was not unusual. This quarter is key because it is the Christmas quarter. Next quarter is also key because of Valentine’s Day. Can see this one doing a double from here. One caveat is that Amazon may be moving into this field.

PAST TOP PICK

(A Top Pick Nov 11/13. Up 70.81%.) He did not perceive that they were going to take over Harriet & David’s, which they recently did. That is going to push the revenues from about $750 million to about $1.1 billion. They are leaders in their field. Good financial statements. They are taking on some debt with the acquisition. His target price is over $11.

HOLD

Bought this at $3 and sold it at $12+ in a fairly short period of time. This is a leader in its field. Lately it has been taking a bit of a beating, but is not nearly cheap enough for him. Often the quarter coming up is their best quarter, because they do well at Christmas. If you own, look at their annual pattern in terms of their share price and see where it normally peaks. If it has a boost and it meets your Sell target that could be a good time to sell.

DON'T BUY
A good, not great business. Also, not a fast-grower. There are better companies in this space, pay a dividend and grow faster.
