Larry Berman CFA, CMT, CTAHorizons Global Semiconductor Index ETFCHPS.TOPARTIAL SELLNov 29, 2021

Loves semiconductors for the next few years. They are the engine of everything we do now in the digital world. If interest rates go up in the next 6 months, and feds pullback on aid, then semiconductors could pullback and underperform. He would lighten up and dip back when there is a pullback.

(Note the short timeframe.)  Mainly in accounts for corporate clients who have a long time horizon, and are more interested in capital gains than dividends. Still sees a long runway. Expect volatility. He's been reading that capacity is booked out all the way through 2026, so he still likes this area.

BUY ON WEAKNESS

AIGO has identical securities to AIQ, but trades in Canada. There are a few others that play the AI space in Canada: CHPS, CIAI, and MTRX. Each gives different exposure. He likes them all. See which one makes sense for you.

TOP PICK

Holds AI, but comes with volatility. There are few semis ETFs in Canada. This holds Taiwan Semi which he really likes. He will buy this on a pullback.

BUY
It holds semis, and is good because it offers global exposure.
BUY
A semis ETF? Timely. It's a US semis index, including Texas Instruments and Broadcom as the biggest holdings. It charges an MER of 0.43%. For Canadians, it's worth looking at CHPS, which holds global semi stocks, including Taiwan and Broadcom. Note that Warren Buffett has just invested in semis, and he rarely invests in tech.
