Market themes. So many to focus on. Mainly inflation and the Fed, plus the economy on top of that. How much will the Fed have to raise rates, and what kind of economic slowdown will there be? Can the Fed engineer rate decisions to avoid a recession?

S&P 500 hit lows in May. Sentiment was pushed to extremes. Historically, no matter what the fundamentals are, those extremes can prompt a market rebound. And that's what we saw. Now a lot of people are saying this is a bear market bounce. He's watching to see if that's true, or if the low is in for the year. If investors think it's just a bounce, people will sell into that and, and it means that the market climbs the wall of worry and heads higher.
COMMENT
Bear market bounce vs. sucker rally? There's no difference. What you see is short covering. All the shorts take a position and then they start to cover that, which starts the move upward, the optimism starts to grow that the bottom's in, people come in, only for it to reverse, test the lows, and then go lower. That's what people are trying to figure out.
WATCH
Technology that makes renewable diesel from waste. Hasn't met output goals. If and when they do, he'd be interested. Stock ran up on expectations, but has now drifted down. New management team.
WATCH
Giant in the industry. Stock ran up. He got stopped out. Need to see conversion from revenue to strong earnings growth. Waiting for technicals to signal the green light on an entry point to get back in.
SELL
With market volatility, gold stocks tend to be more volatile than the overall market and than gold itself. In this choppy period, he'd take it off the table right now. Deal completion risk and market volatility risk.
BUY
Helium supply constrained plus industry usage is increasing, so price is going up. Strong team. Second well had amazing results. He expects longer-term supply agreements. Will be front and centre when growth stocks come into favour again.
BUY
Lithium consumption will increase. Supply is still constrained, more demand than supply. Saskatchewan government will make regulations easier. Fairly good successes on drilling. Has a lower valuation than a close competitor, making it more attractive.
PAST TOP PICK
(A Top Pick Jun 29/21, Down 77%) Brutal in the small cap area. Still likes it, but got stopped out. Beat expectations, business doing well. Moving forward with plans. This is why it's important to use stops, especially with small caps.
PAST TOP PICK
(A Top Pick Jun 29/21, Down 32%) Revenues jumped 100%, earnings up 140%. CEO delivered. Pullback is surprising. Valuation is much better now.
PAST TOP PICK

(A Top Pick Jun 29/21, Down 78%) Stopped out. Still loves the company. Continues to deliver and hit its marks. Awesome investment for a long-term investor. Could be taken out eventually. Bright future.

COMMENT
Investing in small caps. When the tide goes out, there's nothing you can do. Despite strong fundamentals, the stock price can still go down. See his Twitter feed @SC_FUNDS for using stop losses, which are so important with small caps.
WATCH
Canadian cannabis sector is challenging. They all raised money easily, and spent it building huge facilities. Operations in the States can convert to cannabis once legislation passes. Supply agreement with a German company. GMP-certified. Taking market share. Great management.
HOLD
Cheap. Recent quarter was a disaster. He's monitoring it. Regulatory change on renewable natural gas will be a strong tailwind for quite some time. Challenging environment now. Supply chain issues have increased costs. Management knows what they're doing.
WAIT
Not convinced they'd do a stock split. Top stewards of capital and acquisitions. Trading just below what he'd consider a stop level. See his Twitter feed (@SC_FUNDS) after the show for an example of a stop loss for CSU.
