This was making a number of acquisitions. One of the biggest was Sleep Management. About a year ago they announced they were going to spin the business off into 2 different segments, one company being Sleep Management, and the other would be the rest of their companies. Viamed will be the old Sleep Management and the rest will be under Apparo Home Care. Sleep Management appears to be growing the fastest with about 20% annual growth. This is trading at a fairly cheap multiple of their cash flow and earnings.
This continues to execute. They have technology allowing "push to talk" over cellular networks, along with a number of different enhancements for fleets. It is still rolling out as they are still working on getting approvals with different carriers in the US. When that happens there should be a huge upgrade cycle. The movement of the stock might be a little slower than what he had expected. It sold off, and then there was probably a fair bit of tax loss selling, so the stock price really hasn't done too well. You will probably start to see some catalysts in Q2 and Q3 that will probably take the stock price higher.
Has been a market darling for a number of years on the back of pre-made sandwiches they are selling. That business continues to ramp up like crazy, and thinks it is going to continue. On the other side they continue to make acquisitions in the specialty meat and deli business. This is always on his radar screen because of the growth profile. If you don't own, take a close look at it, because the potential for it to continue to grow over the years is pretty strong.
Had sold his holdings based on valuation, and then the stock continued to go up. A great company and thinks they are going to continue to do very well. They have the wind at their back from a demographic standpoint, as they continue to make lifts and mobility devices for older people. Probably has a long runway. He would wait for an opportunity to buy on a pullback.
Their business has been cut back, which is why the stock price had dropped. Feels they continue to be in the "rinse and repeat" mode. They make an acquisition, amalgamate it, bring it into their operation, and increase the business through their marketing, and then go and make another acquisition. Management feels there is lots and lots of room for them to continue this way. The stock looks like it has built a bit of a base and is trying to move higher. Suspects the worst of the news is out, and the market will probably continue to warm up to it.
(A Top Pick Jan 25/17. Up 30%.) This continues to execute very well. They discovered there was a huge demand for unsecured loans in Canada, and so they just continued to grow. Have done a very good job of bringing down the bad debts and bad loans they had. Recently moved into Québec, and are seeing some accelerated growth in that area.
Addiction treatment centres, mostly in California. Their plan was to roll these out all over the US and have different phases of treatment. The company wasn't that profitable, as employees in each of the individual centres was not really buying what management was doing and not taking ownership. The company changed their compensation to actually compensate managers of the individual centres. There still hasn't been tremendous results from that.
Has gone on a turn-around. They refinanced themselves. The rig business in the US is still fairly fragmented. Over time, this company is going to be fairly successful as they have great relationships in the oil patch, which will continue to allow them to grow their business. One thing you have to watch is that they tend to be more levered to oil/gas, depending on how many drilling rigs are being moved.
