COMMENT
Oil. She uses OPEC Spare Capacity numbers, which indicated a potential for some problems in 2 or 3 years and prices might spike. Present middle east scenario could move the time-line a little bit shorter and could see some price hikes that could be quite dramatic if oil was cut off. Was not expecting $150 oil for 3 years but it could now be sooner. Has been adding names that were down or hadn’t moved in the last few days.
HOLD
Gas producer in India. Just had great news that BP (BP-N) was buying into their joint venture. This should add some expertise in the offshore and gas marketing.
COMMENT
Heavy oil play. Good management team. Some feel they have a project that could be better than their previous one. Good experience a lot of growth, especially with strong oil prices. A little more expensive on a cash flow basis than its peer group. If you value it on a Net Asset basis, people expect they can really grow the assets.
WATCH
Started as a Bakken oil player in Saskatchewan and have now diversified into Alberta. Stock was in a downtrend for quite some time but now stabilizing. Valuation is not too bad on a cash flow basis. Fighting some declines in some of their Bakken production and she is monitoring to see if she will invest in it.
HOLD
Was strictly a Bakken player but have now diversified into North East BC for gas. Prefers in the $7-$8 range but is holding her position.
BUY
Gas play but are moving towards some oil weighted properties. On the cusp of hopefully making investors some money. Speculative.
BUY
96% light oil and grew production 60% from 3rd quarter to 4th quarter. Good management. Price to cash flow multiple is relatively inexpensive versus its peer group.
COMMENT
Have done a good job over many years. 4th quarter results were nothing special. Chart looks like it is breaking down a little and if you are a holder you should be cautious. If you see a big break down, consider taking some off the table. Dividend should be fine.
PAST TOP PICK
(A Top Pick Jan 13/10. Up 23.73%.) Well positioned with much potential for different resources in the western Canadian basin. Have a lot of work to do. Looks like it is starting to head up. She has been selling a little recently because she had a good gain and in moving into other names.
BUY
Small cap higher risk story. Had potential to extend their Saskatchewan Bakken play east and had some early success there. Will also be coming out with some more information on the Alberta Bakken play, which is a hot play moving into Montana. Good catalysts.
BUY
Has a lot of drilling rigs in the oil service sector. She has been very bullish on this sector for the last 6 months. She is still buying.
TOP PICK
Not trading at as a good a valuation as some of the mid to large cap energy stocks. 4th quarter has a strong beat on their refining, which she has been strong on. You may be able to get it cheaper if it pulls off a bit. Produce from Libya and Syria, which are potentially difficult but this is not a large amount of their production.
TOP PICK
Relatively new IPO at $1.50 last year. Experience management. Drilling rigs in South America. Huge growth. Using next year’s earnings multiples, they are drilling at less than half of their competition. Not widely known.
TOP PICK
Very tiny, very risky small cap. A junior producer that had way too much debt for years. Have 450 barrels of production. Trading cheaply on a cash flow basis but have a new farm-in who are drilling 5 horizontal oil wells to test some new sexy resource plays. They don’t have to put up any money.
PAST TOP PICK
(A Top Pick Jan 13/10. Up 0.18%.) Starting to pick up some steam in the last couple of weeks with some news that it had. Still a Buy.
