TOP PICK
Well diversified internationally. Doesn’t see them having any great exposure to the CDO market, the US mortgage market. Feels they can hold their 22% ROE.
DON'T BUY
This is a good stock but its valuation metrics relative to some of the other oil patch companies makes it expensive at this point. Would prefer it at $90 or $95.
DON'T BUY
Doesn’t feel the 7.6% yield is sufficient to justify the equity risk that you’re getting. Limited growth going forward. Would rather have it above 8%-8,5%.
WEAK BUY
Missed most of the move of uranium over the last couple of years. Prices have pulled back despite supply being sharply curtailed by this company. Their will more of a demand for uranium. If you have a long view, 5 years or more, you’ll probably do OK.
BUY
Likes this because 70% of it is really Loblaws (L-T). The market is underestimating the value of Loblaws, let alone their real estate.
BUY ON WEAKNESS
In the aerospace market this company is in a good position. More and more new planes are coming out and will require more pilots and training. Should have a number of years of good earnings and growing backlog. Would Buy more at $1 less.
COMMENT
Selling at just over 2X book that looks like a relatively good Buy, but they have had problems with a few write-offs. The real problem has always been where is the growth in their business model going to come from. ROE of 16% is low compared to other banks.
HOLD
This is the cheapest of the big 5 banks at less than 2X Book Value. Their ROE is about 18% but there is a lot of worry about what they might be holding in terms of commercial paper etc. 4.5% yield.
DON'T BUY
Being impacted a lot by the strong Cdn$. Feedstock and energy prices going forward will be a big worry for them. There is a fairly tight styrene market, but have not been able to pass the increased prices on. An extremely hard company to read.
BUY
Both CNR and CP (CP-T) are measures of the economy as a whole and overall he feels the agriculture business is fairly strong. Moving of coal, ore and resources has also been very strong.
BUY
Proportionately less of their business is exposed to the US than that of CNR (CNR-T). Also liked their US acquisition but unfortunately it is going to take longer for the regulators to approve.
