U.S. earnings extend rally
Good or better-than-expected earnings reports extended the rally Tuesday on Wall Street as well as Bay Street. The S&P saw all sectors higher starting with industrials and gained 1.16% past 3,700. Tech continued to rebound, pushing the Nasdaq up 0.9% while the Dow added 1.13%.
The cruise lines surged with Carnival sailing 11.07% higher and Norwegian by 9.03%. Meanwhile, Lockheed Martin rallied 8.63%, Bank of America 3.78% and Mosaic 5.8%. Meanwhile, Moderna slipped 3.8%. The U.S. 10-year dipped by 4% while Bitcoin slid 1.5% to trade around $19,250. After the bell, Netflix reported a strong beat and surged 11%.
Crude oil fell by nearly 3% with WTI tumbled to $82.50. The limited the TSX’s gain to 0.87% though all other sectors were in the green. Big gainers included Bombardier up 6.212%, Innergex Renewable 4.36%, Shopify 3.67% and TD up 1.52%. However, Iamgold bested them all by soaring 18.37% after selling one of its mines.
