He's looking to add international exposure. With this you get Japan and other markets. There's potentially more spending over there and trade relationships are changing. This ETF layers low volatility with a high dividend.
Its benchmark is the MSCI EAFE index, which is fairly well tracked. Last year it exceeded that index by about 8.5%. Historically, it's done very well.
He's looking to add as a tactical complement to the rest of his portfolio. Hasn't added yet. Not necessarily waiting for a price point, but still sharpening his pencil and doing his homework. He doesn't like trading too much in portfolios, so he wants to be sure he makes the right choice and then just manages the risk from there.
