His only concern with Interpipeline are rising interest rates that will pressure these pipeline companies. He'd rather buy en energy producer like Pembina which has a comparable yield, but higher dividend growth.
A top 10 position for him. CNQ has been a big investor in the oil sands. They've made smart acquitions. Also, oil prices have been rising. CNQ will generate a ton of cash going foward, so the dividend will rise. One of the few Canadian oil companies trading at multi-year highs. This can be a core position. He does worry about the take-away issue (lack of pipelines) and the politics around it, but CNQ is is a great long-term stock. (Analysts' price target: $54.96)

Transports have perked up recently. There's been a lot of stuff to move in a strong economy. Truckloads are full. Oil prices rise which tip things in favour of the rails. UNP has a great network in the U.S. with 8,500 trains. This is a play on a still-strengthening U.S. economy. They are efficient with cost vs. revenues declining. (Analysts' price target: $147.12)

Has branches primarily in Texas (rising oil prices) and California, two strong geographic regions. Regional banks are sensitive to rising interest rates. Loan origination is accelerating in the U.S. Expect dividend growth and return of capital to shareholders. Deregulation will help, too. (Analysts' price target: $103.04)

A great stock. He missed buying it though. Great numbers. One of the few growth stocks. He'd buy it even at current 52-week highs. Consumer discretionary is a good sector in a stronger economy.
