HOLD

A wonderful company. Owner operated. Has claimed they are going to buy back stock if it goes any lower. Generating a lot of free cash. Fully occupied. 6% dividend yield.

COMMENT

What’s the point of buying this when you can Buy a Canadian company, keep your dividend, and even get a dividend tax credit? He is sticking with Canadian names.

DON'T BUY

Really took advantage of an arbitrage opportunity in the market. We have decaying roads all across North America. The problem is that a competitor could start up tomorrow. Very low barriers to entry. Multiples are just too high on valuation.

DON'T BUY

Impressive balance sheet. In the right space. Got whacked when BlackBerry (BB-T) pulled their business, but they seemed to have replaced that with other stuff. Great capital management. The problem is that it is such a low margin business and there is no moat to their business. It is very tough for him to Buy this company.

COMMENT

Generates a lot of free cash flow. The worry is, what is Apple (APPL-Q) going to do, what is Google (GOOG-Q) going to do. Are they going to offer a competing product? Haven’t yet, but that scares him.

COMMENT

Has been extremely surprised at how well it’s done. They have relationships with every single car manufacturer. Balance sheet is in great shape. He is looking to pare some profits, but thinks car sales are going to be very strong for the next 2 to 3 years, so not ready to get out of the name just yet.

COMMENT

This is essentially a conglomerate and mirrors the S&P 500 in terms of all the different types of companies. Very hard to see a lot more upside in the stock.

COMMENT

(Market Call Minute.) Loves the health care in the US. He is playing this through C. R. Bard (BCR-N) and Zimmer (ZMH-N).

COMMENT

(Market Call Minute.) Saputo Cheese (SAP-T) is his preferred name in the cheese business.

BUY

(Market Call Minute.)

COMMENT

(Market Call Minute.) Very pleased with the recovery in the stock in the past month and thinks there is still a lot more room for this to go higher.

BUY

(Market Call Minute.) There is some value that could be created with this company and Canadian Utilities to spin off and try to compete with Pentium (?) pipelines of the world.

TOP PICK

A spin-off from Kimberley Clark (KMB-N). It’s big business is fine paper, stationary, etc. but there is no growth in that. They are focusing on labels and filtration where there is a lot of growth. Operate in health care and automotive and they have great return on capital. High ROE and buying back stock. Yield of 2.16%.

TOP PICK

Likes owner/operated companies. A huge media conglomerate. The sexy stuff is the movies, but the meat and potatoes is the TV networks. Owns a lot of content such as MYV, Comedy Central. Thinks that at some point something is going to happen with this company. Company is buying back stock. Yield of 1.61%.

TOP PICK

Beer drinking has finally stabilized. Seemed that everybody was saying nobody is drinking beer any more. Global beer sales were up in the last quarter. They are also the biggest craft brewer in the world. Likes its joint venture with SABMiller called MillerCoors. Thinks at some point SAB is going to look at Millers to Buy it. If so that could be hugely accretive to its earnings. Yie;d of 2.2%.
