Japan: Wonders about the long-term affect on Oil. What about the number of reactors being taken out by one nuclear reactor. Price of Natural Gas is quite low and will stay low if our fields are allowed to develop, or if nuclear reactors are allowed to developed that they don’t get washed away so easily. It depends on what is really happening in Japan. Wonders if metal prices are squeezed because it is not in their best interests to see metal prices increase.
DON'T BUY
He held it for a long time. It should have been positioned to participate, but look at how all the tech stocks have done. If it hasn’t run during this big tech stock rally, when it IS going to rally. He would prefer to own companies that CSCO might want to take out – the second tier tech stocks.
WAIT
Uranium plays might be the way to go at these levels. If there isn’t a melt down in Japan you could go into Uranium.
COMMENT
Doesn’t know if they would be wanting to buy Great West Minerals Group (GWG.T). Rare earth is is a hot sector but it has had a big run.
DON'T BUY
Relative to the big energy producers, these have not had to the same extent. There are some concerns about the middle east. He prefers Canadian oil service companies.
BUY
In the process of buying CTV. He has been buying this recently. Dividend is strong and stock has been going up since the bottom in 2009. The services they provide are growing more than people would imagine.
DON'T BUY
Naked short selling is a derivative strategy. They have to raise a lot of money each year to finance their CAP-X activities. He has been out of this one and looking at other stocks since this did not appear to be a sustainable business model. His math says it is not.
BUY
Great technology stocks get to a point where they are not able to grow any further. He homes Jim will break this trend. He is encouraged by the new product line and that fact that Jim is focused on the business. You can’t take on the business and the NHL at the same time.
BUY
Is continuing to add to it. Thinks energy prices will continue to be strong. Could grow their dividend. It has pulled back to the trend line but did not break it to the downside. It is one of those core energy stocks you would rally want to have.
DON'T BUY
It’s not one that he has a core position in. Wanted to stay away from North American situation because it will probably get worse before it gets better.
TOP PICK
He is looking for a way to participate in the energy sector with companies that have not yet moved. This is a company that provides equipment to drilling companies. Looks good technically. No exposure to the North Africa. Because of the difficulties in Japan, there may be less Nuclear going on.
TOP PICK
Have a preponderance of Zellers stores. His feeling is that it is the way to play Target coming to Canada. Real Estate investment trusts are the way to go because Canadian Real Estate is stlll under valued compared to to others.
TOP PICK
He has been invested in the bigger names like Apples, Ebay and Google, but as be looks at the run up they have had and the combined cash they have on the books, they are particularly positioned to make acquisitions. This is a large supplier to apple (third of their sales). He thinks this one has a greater capacity to grow than a larger one.
PAST TOP PICK
(Top Pick Nov 25/10, Up 11.15%) Doesn’t look at it as falling into the hands of London. It could be a good deal. Doesn’t know what the politicians should do. The banks putting together the alpha was really a re-mutualization of the business. The regulators could theoretically block the deal. It could mean longer trading hours, trans-continental listings, exposure of the largest mining and venture capital market to the world.
