BUY
Everyone should be in some energy stocks and this one is as good as any. Well diversified geographically. Great management and great growth behind it. Has a lot of gas exposure and gas has not been as hot as oil, so less volatile here.
DON'T BUY
They can put a lot of incentives on to try and move the product, but they don't really have the produt that consumers want. Went to SUV's but as the bloom comes off the SUV market, they only have one car (Mustang) that is in demand.
BUY
The majority of their business is tied into offshore oil platforms. Have lost a couple of good cntracts and haven't replaced them. The stock is in a pause mode right now and this would be a good time to accumulate it. A long term investment in the oil sector.
DON'T BUY
Currently lacking a president/CEO. The last one left very quickly, so management is not a stable one. Financials seem to be getting more in order. Has great reservations about the company. A speculation and a gamble. Products are under siege right now.
WAIT
An exceedingly well run company. Now a global player, probably #7 in the world. Moved into the Australian market where there is a glut of red grapes. This is driving down prices. A good long term stock to have. It'll either gorw by buying more wineries around the world or will sell to one of the bigger guys. Let it settle down.
HOLD
Nickel prices are looking good and copper is continuing to do well.
BUY
A good buy here. Cheap because it's not one of the majors.
DON'T BUY
In the penalty box. This bank has had the poorest management going back 20 years. Has sold at a discount and should continue to do that.
BUY
Also involved with the Enron fiasco, but not to the same extent as CIBC (CM-T). Not worried about them and likes this bank. Well run. Likes their exposure of moving slowly into the US.
TOP PICK
(A Top Pick Jun 6/05. Up 15.5%.) Feels the oil service sector is underpriced compared to the price of energy. Also thinks that as the price continues to stay up here, more and more energy copmpanies who have been sitting on cash will be looking at this as a possible acquisition. Well run.
PAST TOP PICK
(A Top Pick Jun 6/05. Up 13.5%.) Also had a nice dividend. Dividend is rock solid. Would still buy the stock at these prices.
PAST TOP PICK
(A Top Pick Jun 6/05. Up 10%.) The premier gold company in the world. Good management.
HOLD
The new businesses that they acquired have not shown the same characteristics of growth that the propane did. Propane seems to be slowing down a bit. Earnings were less than what market was looking for so the stock sold off. Hold as an income, not a growth.
BUY
This and ManuLife (MFC-T) are the best finacials in the country. Get some good diversity in this company.
BUY
Likes the outlook for metalurgical coal. Good pricing environment and demand.
