Here’s this week’s 52-week high stocks on Stockchase…
Aimia (AIM-T) TSE
Aimia preferred shares: It's run into problems. It'll be difficult going forward. The value was in the Air Canada miles, not Aeroplan. If you own a preferred share that's not paying a yield, then it's distressed. Take a loss.
EGI Financial Holdings Inc. (EFH-T) TSE
Involved in nonstandard automobile/motorcycle insurance as well as home insurance. BV of around $14.37 but Tangible Book is $13.50. No debt. Overly capitalized by over $35 million. Stable management. Basically Canadian, but their big driver is Europe. 25%-30% growth. Will probably earn about $1.30 next year. Have an option of putting in a dividend, free…
Firstservice Corp (FSV-T) TSE
(A Top Pick Jul 21/20, Up 0%)(Total return not available.) Great Canadian company. Asset lite, minimal fixed costs, low capex. Grow organically and by acquisition, which they do very well. Executes incredibly well. He'd buy it here or on any pullback.
CloudMD (DOC-X) TSXV
It is one of the fastest growing healthcare solutions providers. They made a series of very targeted acquisitions which they are integrating. A quality company with quality assets. (Analysts’ price target is $4.19)

Belo Sun Mining (BSX-T) TSE
They have a large Brazilian gold deposit. The problem here are indigenous people challenges there and a government contract that pays out a crazy amount to the managers. This payout is not aligned to the shareholders' interests. Then again, it's a cheap stock vs. gold in the ground.
Champion Iron Limited (CIA-T) TSE
Billy Kawasaki’s Insights - Billy’s most-liked answers from 5i Research. The company announced a very solid quarter with a strong outlook. Even with the big run up, the stock is cheap on all metrics with a very strong balance sheet. If there is global growth, the company looks very solid. Unlock Premium - Try 5i…
Capstone Mining Corp. (CS-T) TSE
It is on his watch list. It has been there for a number of years. It has not done very much but once in a while it perks his interest. He is going to do a review in the next couple of weeks and it may move it up then.
Endeavour Mining Capital (EDV-T) TSE
Precious metals is an area of long term opportunities. We saw a great run for a couple years but in the last year, it has gone sideways to down. Enthusiasm has waned and is affected by the bitcoin craze. If Bitcoin loses sails, the inflation hedge money will come back to precious metals. Outlook for…
First Quantum Minerals (FM-T) TSE
Commodities were in a 10-year bear market and only recently reversed. FCX has been the leader, and has just pulled back and is set for another leg up. He also owns HBM. All of these will benefit, as we're in a deficit of copper and will be for quite some time. EVs use more copper…
Fortuna Silver Mines (FVI-T) TSE
The amount of silver in Fortuna is limited now since it is a diversified company. It got hit dramatically since the market needs to re-understand what the company is. At current level, it looks pretty good. Likes it and is probably good value here.
Lithium Americas Corp (LAC-T) TSE
Billy Kawasaki’s Insights - Billy’s most-liked answers from 5i Research. A good play for those looking to have a position in lithium. Positive fundamentals with the EV trend. However, it will move with the sector. Good for more aggressive sector investors with a longer time frame. Unlock Premium - Try 5i Free
Nickel Creek Platinum Corp. (NCP-T) TSE
New Gold Inc. (NGD-T) TSE
Doesn't think there will be a take-over soon. The CEO used to be the CEO of Richmond Mines. They now have an operator. On their watch list and he has confidence in management.
Premier Gold Mines (PG-T) TSE
It's a sum-of-the-parts story with three moving parts. The knock on it was they always needed to finance, but they financed. He likes their assets, including a joint venture with Barrick, which is worth PG's market cap alone. Their Ontario and Mexico assets are extraneous and will likely be sold. (Analysts’ price target is $3.93)
Pretium Resources (PVG-T) TSE
(A Top Pick Dec 07/18, Up 36%) A volatile stock, but he likes the golds, holding 10-20% in a portfolio. Gold has a long runway.
Roxgold Inc (ROXG-T) TSE
Billy Kawasaki’s Insights - Billy’s most-liked answers from 5i Research. It is a smaller and cheaper company than the big gold names. It has more leverage to deal with, discovery and multiple expansion is possible. There is more risk. Generally, small and mid cap gold outperform in a gold rally. You need to be okay…
Sabina Gold & Silver Corp. (SBB-T) TSE
(A Top Pick Mar 03/20, Up 14%) Are developing gold in Nunavut in a fully-permitted, high-grade, open-pit project. The knock is that it's in a northern frontier which means higher costs to fly in and out supplies, and it's less easy to work up north. He's owned this stock for years and is confident with…
Titan Mining Corp. (TI-T) TSE
They have had a fantastic track record on the exploration front. They bought a shut in zinc mine and then the price of zinc dropped. He would stay away from it until they delineate new zones they can extract ore from.
Defiance Silver Corporation (DEF-X) TSXV
A silver play in Mexico, one of the last great potential silver discoveries, i.e., an extension of the vein in terms of the length, width and depth. A great play and a good speculation.
Regulus Resources Inc. (REG-X) TSXV
(A Top Pick Mar 05/19, Down 29%) The decline is the issue with everyone moving away from base metals. There copper asset in Peru is the place to be. The issue is that the corruption at the government level is slowing the permit process for juniors. He continues to hold it.
Globex Mining Enterprises Inc (GMX-T) TSE
It is not a mining company, but a project generator. The CEO has done this for 25 years. He then sells off projects to companies that try to turn them into mines. He gets stock and a royalty in exchange. He has about a 160 properties. Some day the CEO will want to sell the…
Hudbay Minerals Inc. (HBM-T) TSE
Getting that license in Arizona would be a huge boom for them. They hold great mines and their operations are performing well. They've stumbled a bit in recent years, but overall things are smooth. Peru offers political uncertainty with a new far left-wing government, but it needs Hudbay's operations to keep going. He targets $12-13.
Maverix Metals (MMX-N) TSE
He's long owned this and knows the owner. The recent market sell off--and in this stock--has been spectacular. This is a wonderful speculation, not an investment. A fine small-cap precious metals stock.
Taseko Mines Ltd. (TKO-T) TSE
This is on his watch list. He is not familiar with their fundamentals. Today's earnings release will help define their future.
Copper Mountain Mining (CMMC-T) TSE
Highly leveraged to the copper price, and is a major producer. Has a great outlook. They are reducing costs to improve efficiency. Debt is an issue, but the high copper price solves this and enhances margins. It's up 500% in the past year. Too much beta for him though, but this is fine if you…
Calibre Mining Corp. (CXB-X) TSXV
Kinross Gold (K-T) TSE
Barrick Gold? He prefers Kirkland Lake and Agnico Eagle among the big producers, because they have better leverage and are streamlined. He always puts Barrick and Kinross in the same category. Kinross buys assets at low prices, but he'd rather buy the companies they buy than Kinross itself. (The one positive with Barrick is Warren…
Sanatana Resources Inc. (STA-X) TSXV
(Top Pick Nov 8/12, Down 76.12%) He got out in the 4th quarter last year. They were the donut around the deposit. With Gold falling off and the market changing, there is now no rational reason to own it.
AcuityAds Inc (AT-X) TSXV

Maxar Technologies (MAXR-T) TSE
The space sector is promising. Still owns this and bought more with the weakness. With digital globe acquisition, they have married the space area well. Low level orbit satellite structure is promising. There are companies that need their data. Best positioned to combine data and put it in a good format. The valuation is still…
Altus Group (AIF-T) TSE

Ilookabout Corp (ILA-X) TSXV
Provides a service very similar to Alphabet (GOOGL-Q), which is provided for free. When your competitor is providing your services free, it is tough to be competitive.
Mission Ready Service (MRS-X) TSXV
Billy Kawasaki’s Insights - Billy’s most-liked answers from 5i Research. Without more contracts or better momentum, there is no reason to add in weakness. Long term thesis still holds, but the CEO pointed to less than expected government spending as a source of weakness. Unlock Premium - Try 5i Free
Extracts protein from vegetables like canola, peas, and soy. Has 285 patents. There is negligible revenue despite the company being around for more than 20 years. Difficult to apply fundamental analysis. Too speculative for him. Need to see revenue and profit.
Major Drilling Group International Inc (MDI-T) TSE
It is beyond the current investment horizon to think mining will take place in space, but he is excited about it now. The commodity shortage and pricing will lead to massive exploration for things like copper. The electronic world we are entering will need massive amounts of copper. He thinks they will be quite profitable…
Toromont Industries (TIH-T) TSE
One of his favourite companies in Canada. Lower risk. Hold it for the long term. A first-class business. The CEO delivers beat after beat, sometimes by a wide margin. Lower risk. Yield is 1.30%. (Analysts’ price target is $112.67)
Input Capital Corp (INP-X) TSXV
They do canola mainly. At these prices the stock is so cheap. He sold because he was not seeing enough capital being deployed in Canola streams.
TomaGold Corporation (LOT-X) TSXV

Electrovaya Inc. (EFL-T) TSE
Billy Kawasaki’s Insights - Billy’s most-liked answers from 5i Research. They reported weakening revenue and earning numbers for the last few quarters. Management attributes it to reduced order volume due to component shortages, and supply chain disruptions. There is some credibility with repeat purchases from large firms. Could start a high risk small position with…
With covid, WELL and other tele health came into the spotlight. Their prices appreciated quickly. Now, we are seeing a move away with more competition and the vaccine. In terms of investing, there are better opportunities elsewhere. A good company in an industry that is growing, however.
Leon’s Furniture (LNF-T) TSE
Has owned this since 2004. Tremendous upside. They really expanded their e-commerce and now makes up 10% of sales. When people can't travel, they buy furniture. Also, they hold $800 million in real estate that one day they can spin out. Also, they have no doubt. The family owns 75% of stock. Margins are rising.…

Waterloo Brewing Ltd. (WBR-T) TSE
Allan Tong’s Discover Picks WBR stock is a small-cap, so beware of volatility, trading only 22,000 shares per day. It pays a 1.49% dividend, far smaller than a few years ago. The big reason is that share prices have soared. In the past 12 months, WBR has run from $2.98 the way to $7.99 as…
George Weston Ltd. (WN-T) TSE
It's had a good run. Was his top pick in March 2020. IN recent quarters, they've been simplying their structure. What's held their valuation was Weston Foods, which they are divesting. So, the company will focus on Loblaw and Choice Properties. Higher costs have impacted the former during the pandemic. But investments in home delivery…
Pfizer bought it today, and TRIL shares tripled from $6 to $18 in the blink of an eye. That's why he always advises investing in small drug companies; sometimes they pan out.
Holds some for their income portfolio. Was the biggest contributor for their performance last year. A secular growth potential story. A consistent performer and the pullback is buyable. The pullback is due to exposure and earnings disappointments due to storms in Texas. Likes the geographic exposure with roots in Canada. Clean natural gas, long tenure…

Wellness drives CBD demand and there's more competition entering this space. The CBD market continues to expand into drinks and food. He used to own this, but sees better opportunities. But CWEB is one of the U.S. leaders in this crowded space, so it's okay. You want to be in this space.
Auxly Cannabis (XLY) TSXV
Their model is based on getting royalties off the cannabis companies they produce. They've done some smart deals and have been able to put pressure on producers who needed money. Not sure why it moved so down today.
Stuart Olson Inc (SOX-T) TSE
In the construction space his favorite is WSP Global. SOX is similar and he thinks they may be a value trap as there is some concerns about the dividend, the strength of the balance sheet and their ties to the energy sector.
They sell energy contracts. They have under gone several management changes over the years. He is not a great fan of this business model.
Allan Tong’s Discover Picks Air Transat is less desirable. Not exactly beloved by Canadian consumers, Transat isn’t receiving much affection from investors either. Last week, CIBC lowered its target on the hapless airline from $4.00 to $3.00 to underperform. Currently, there are three sells and one hold, with a $3.48 price target that is about…
This has limited history, but it is a $1.50 stock that is acting quite well. It’s too early in its history for him to have too much of a comment on it. It certainly looks like it is going higher, and he would watch it.
