The Panic-Proof Portfolio (Stockchase Research)iShares S&P Glb Energy E.T.F.IXCTOP PICKJul 14, 2026

Stockchase Research Editor: Michael O'Reilly

Energy has been the top performing sector globally and IXC is the best of the global energy ETFs.  With 68 unique holdings it provides global diversification, primarily with Exxon being its largest holding along with Chevron, Shell and Total as well.  It is clear global energy distribution will continue to be constrained.  Inflows into the fund have again risen sharply.  We recommend setting a stop-loss at $43, looking to achieve $62 -- upside potential of 18%.  Yield 2.9%

PAST TOP PICK
(A Top Pick Apr 01/21, Up 8%)

Will continue to hold shares.
Believes energy sector very strong.
Expecting further growth in the energy space.
Global demand for energy is outpacing supply.
SPR has not been refilled quick enough.
Return of capital to shareholders very attractive.

PAST TOP PICK
(A Top Pick Sep 15/21, Up 46%) Diversified global basket. Likes energy. Increased demand, diminished supply. Strong balance sheets and free cashflow. Disciplined management. Valuations still look cheap. Yield is 4.2%.
TOP PICK
Continues to think energy space will outperform. 50% of IXC allocated to USA market, with remainder in international/Canada markets. Geopolitical issues will not affect price of oil/natural gas in the long term. Believes capital allocation in energy has improved. Share prices not reflecting value of companies. Rising interest rates are a good thing for energy.
TOP PICK
Basket of large-cap global energy names. Energy sector is underinvested, and this presents a contrarian opportunity. Improving global demand for oil and gas, diminished supplies, draw down on inventories, predictions of a colder winter ahead. These large caps have strong balance sheets, strong free cashflow, more disciplined. Rising inflation bodes well.
TRADE
Growth in China and India could help it do well.
