TSX flat as tech pressures markets

The trading weak began in the green, but quickly sank into the red, particularly south of the border. Worries over semis and tech dragged the Nasdaq down 3.09% while the S&P declined 0.5% and the Dow stayed flat.
Nvidia was once again the most active name, but closed the session -3.09%. Elsewhere, Walgreens rallied 6.5%, Super Micro Computer finished -7.95%, Cleveland Cliffs -2.96% after an earnings miss, and Palantir continued its slide after it ended the day -10.53%. Bitcoin also lost ground, down 1.6% to US$94,250, while the U.S. 10-year yield slipped to 4.4%.
The TSX fared better by staying flat, up only four points. Sectors were mixed as staples and discretionary led while energy and especially healthcare lagged. Most active were CNQ, down 1.8% and Calibre Mining slipping 3.88%. Meanwhile, Celestica slid 6.85%, Eldorado Gold rallied 5.67% and NFI Group jumped 5.18%. In commodities, gold advanced 0.55% to US$2,950, while WTI rose 0.6% to US$70.80.
