Trump reverses, market rebound
The American indices rebounded well over 1% on Wednesday after Trump announced he would not take over Greenland militarily but rather had entered a “framework” with the EU concerning the territory. The Dow regained the most, up 1.21%. Major movers included Moderna, soaring 15.84%, Intel 11.72%, Sandisk 10.63%, AppLovin -5.83% and Netflix -2.18 after issuing a cautious forecast. Silver slipped 1.5% to US$93.10, but gold climbed US$70 to US$4,833 while WTI added 0.5% to US$60.66. Bitcoin advanced US$800 to US$90,165. The U.S. 10-year edged up to 4.249%.
In Toronto, the TSX climbed 0.31% in mixed trading. Energy rallied the most, while healthcare lagged the deepest. Key names on Bay Street: Vermilion Energy up 6.88%, CNQ 4.47%, Athabasca Oil 6.86%, Equinox Gold -5.04% and Lundin Gold -4.52%.
